Experian knew before I did!

So, I apply for a new credit card and send in the application.

Three days later, I see a new credit inquiry in my reports. OK, that makes sense.

Six days later I see a new credit card account reported by Experian. Say what?!

It's only been a week since I sent in the app and I haven't heard anything from the issuer which is no surprise because if I was declined, the rejection letter would still be in the mail and if I was approved, it'd be a week or so more before the new cards arrive.

What surprised me was that Experian was already reporting a new account!

Spooky :)

Not really surprising. They probably approved you just like that and sent the info to the CRA. A few months ago I was approved - without me knowing it, and actually received my first bill a week before I actually received my card. This was one of those cards that had an annual fee.

GE Money and Bank of America are known for this.

To break the mystery, it was FIA Card Services (i.e. Bank of America).

Today, I found out that TXU & EFX are reporting the new account and I finally got the card in the mail. Nice of them to let me in on the secret.

Word does travel fast!
