    I pulled my girlfriends credit report 3 weeks ago through equifax and paid $12.95 and the FICO was 639. Now only one thing has changed and paid $12.95 again on 5-22-03 and FICO is 601 check this out. Girlfiend filed B.K August of 2002 and we did some credit repair and got 2 new accounts. FICO went from 503 to 639 as of April 28 2003. Sears reported 120+ in April and May and killed this score to 601 even though they were included in B.K 7. Her report should have gained a few points higher but it did not. Sears account charged off as bad debt in 03/97 and has not paid since then and not used. They keep reporting now and they are killing a score that is an old account that should not be reported this way since it was included in a B.K 7 from August 2002. I am not worried about the "not mine" to get it deleted but "included in B.K" might work, but would it gid rid of the recent dates that the account is reported. Any VETS 4 advise??? I saw on T.V that Sears has reported people as dead before so I guess it could be worse. Hi i'd like 2 dispute that I am alive LOL! Serious FICO 639 to 601 because of Sears updating from an old account that was discharged in a B.K 7 and they keep updating!

    I think you are safe to go the Not Mine 1st since it is no longer yours.

    "I do not have a Sears Account"

    The way I see it there are 2 choices. #1 Dispute as "not mine" and hope it falls off over fighting over it. Or #2 Dispute "Included in B.K". If I would to tell her to dispute and say "Included in B.K" would that erase the April and May 2003 120+ ? This account should fall off in early 2004 anyways. The April and May 120+ killed the FICO it was 639 three weeks ago. I am more concerned about the April and May of 2003 being reported. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    From What the Experts have posted( I am no EXPERT){just a 7month old myself}

    I would DENY DENY DENY ......
    "I do not have a sears account"

    If Sears does in fact verify then I would send a fed-ex to the compliance Mgr stating how can they possibly verify you have an account with them when in fact you have in your possession legal documentation that says you do not. TAH DAHH

    VIOLATION !!!!! for Sears and all who Verify for them

    Right - you have to stop and think when you dispute. Think like this: "If I say this, what am I actually telling the CRA that they might not already know, and that could be used against me later?"

    If you dispute as "included in bk" you are telling them 2 things - that you know about this account (implying that it really is yours) and that you did have a bk. Now, do you really want to that?

    The correct way to dispute is "I do not have have any account with Sears." Sears does this on purpose, to keep your score down no matter what you are doing in the present to improve your credit.

    Also, Sears is selling off accounts (their entire card portfolio is up for sale) so I would suggest you opt out with the CRA's to prevent them selling your information to CA's that are looking for old Sear's accountholders. (Yes they may try to collect on a bk account).

    Can Sears verify an account to the CRA even if it was discharged in B.K 5 months ago? I would think Sears would believe so. Would it be hard for Sears to do that? The debt has been bad since 1997. I know the right thing to do is say I do not have a Sears account because she doesn't, but Sears will say yes you do. Dispute as "not mine" and they will say here it is. Dispute as "included in B.K"? Can Sears easily lie to the CRA and say here is the account?
