Hello to all, I have been a member of the board for a long time and have read all of the FAQs and numerous posts on the board. I have requested my credit reports and read through them all and I am now working on many different aspects. I have a chargeoff from First Financial Bank in South Dakota. The total amount owed on the account is $1200.00. The account was opened in 1991 and charged off in early 2000. The account has been turned over to a collection agency with a really nasty collection agent who curses on the phone..... What would be the best way to handle this debt? I don't mind paying the balance in exchange for deletion/pays as agreed, however, I am not sure if I should first send a validation offer or send a settlement offer. If I do send a settlement offer..... would you offer a full settlement or offer less? (Which is more likely to get a deletion?) Also, do I deal with the OC or the CA? I would prefer to deal with the OC. Thanks in Advance for your help!!!!!
