I have had this card with 9.9% APR since may '02.

Good APR, but the CL sucks. They start you out at $250 (which after all set-up fees, you are left with $30)

But after almost a year, they upped me to $350. I have a zero balance right now and never really use it.

Bottom line, APR is good, FEES and CL sucks, but it was all I could get at the time.

Just pay on-line like I do, and make sure its on time ;)

PS when I say pay on-line, I mean thru your banks on-line banking, cause First Premier charges you even more $$ to pay thru them on-line.

If you do it thru your bank, it is free (depending on your bank).

wow 100 cl raise. lol. you didnt pay there fee to get the upgrade did you? its so funny. I called and asked for a cl increase. She goes congratulations your approved for a 100 increase for only a fee of 40 dollars.

A total joke.I laughed at her and said why would i pay 40 bucks for an extra 60 dollars. why not pay off my balance. Of course she had no answer for that.

Go with household bank. 39.00 set up fee. 39.00 annnual fee. Best subprime card out there. None of this 200 fees etc, bullshet.

Hi, Thank You for getting back to me so quickly, I already have HouseHold and Sterling bank and trust, but both of them are at about 19.99 apr. I have been with the both for about 2 years, couldn`t I ask for a lower rate now? I have a good record about paying the monthly payment and I pay way over what is due.....Thank You

I wouldn't take First Premier Mastercard if I had 300 bad accounts, 2 Bankruptcys, dozens of judgments, was jobless and homeless, and if they paid me 9.9% on the balances. The fees and monthly charges are ridiculous and the A.P.R on a low limit will get you nowhere. I am amazed how many cardholders they actually still have and continue to get. If you are in need of a credit card with a low credit line $500 or under go with a secured credit card that reports as unsecured and just pay off the balance every month. The A.P.R will never matter if there is a grace period. I have never ever seen a situation where one should consider First Premier!!!

I have had this credit card since January '02, and they do charge a lot of set up fees. My initial credit limit was $350 and my available limit was $175. They also charge me an annual fee of $50 AND a monthly fee of $6. That is $122 per year for this card. Yes, it has a low interest rate, but if you add in all the fees and finance charges, you will be paying an astronomical amount for this card. For example, I got my statement in the mail today and my balance is$427.26 and my interest charges were $3.44. But if you add in the $6.00 monthly fee it is like actually paying 22% interest. If you add in the annual fee of $50.00, it is like paying 32% interest. I was able to negotiate a lower annual fee last December to $35, but it was just one time and I was told that I would it be $50 next year, unless I called to renegotiate. I also asked for them to lower my monthly participation fee and was told that it was not possible and that it was a mandatory fee and that it goes toward reporting to all 4 major bureaus monthly (which is a good thing for building credit). I did try to cancel my card on 2 different occasions and the CSR's actually argued with me about why I shouldn't cancel the account, and gave me such a hassle that I just hung up. The only reason that I am keeping this account open, is because I have read that it hurts your credit score if you cancel an account before it is paid off (I did cut it up so I couldn't charge any more). If you need a credit card to build credit, you would be much better off to get a completely secured card, because your credit limit will only go up $100 per year on this card, and those fees do not go away. Hope I helped! :)

sunshine27, You forgot to add the best benefit of the card. They only charge $25 for a $100 credit line increase. Nice post!
