I had a charge off with FCNB of 728, Genesis says they will settle for 450, delete the FCNB and update theirs to paid in full. Should I take it? They have validated the debt.
Try for as low as a settlement as you can go, why not. If you have the $450, I'd pay it. If not, see sentence above. ALWAYS ask for deletion from your credit. If you don't want it deleted, ask that it be marked paid/as agreed/closed or something to that affect.
Get it in writing from both FCNB & the CA. I had a collection agency promise this in writing, and now FNB Omaha says the CA did not have the authority to do this. MAKE SURE TO GET IT IN WRITING FROM BOTH! tix
Did Genesis properly validate? I would send them a validation letter and they will eventually delete. They are idiots. Charlie
I would go for a total deletion of everything. A settled cc is about as bad as bankruptcy(actually it may be worse). Also, did you call and tell them that you got their validation because if they did not send it with tracking or certified then hey, it never existed.
Not to hijack this thread but what if you are negoting with the OC and the CA that they hired are the only ones reporting. Should I get the OC to put in writing that the CA will delete upon payment? Should I get something in writing from the CA as well?
For all of those dealing with Genesis - you might want to check out this thread over at BayHouse: http://www.bayhouse.com/credit-forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=883[\url] Mommy2cats
Thanks for fixing that Love! I'd not had any coffee yet so figured I'd deal with why I couldn't get it to work after that... Mommy2cats
