I recieved a response from AFSA Data corp. They are a student loan company. I had 5 90+ day lates in 1999-2000.

I sent a letter to their dept. head. Told him about the physical ills that led to the problem, with the standard goodwill letter goop.

I got a form letter back saying they could not, according to federal regs, remove the info. from my report. Blah Blah, Blah.

Has anyone had luck with student loans and goodwill letters?

I have never had a student loan but try sending the same letter to another person at the company. I have had the best luck with women. LOL

    Thanks.

What about going outside the C.S. dept?

is this student loan a paid chargeoff, have you tried validation already? I really doubt that they would remove so many lates.... did you request retro active forbearance or deferment or did you health issues prevent you from accessing this in a timelyl manner. The higher up you go in the organization the better the response!

The best luck I have had with student loans is to call them and allege these either didn't happen or were a result of their error.

Most companies won't have sufficient records to prove it wasn't their error from five years ago.

My original Nutcase Letter success was with PHEAA, a student loan guarantor. My PHEAA loans had multiple 120 and 150 day late notations. (I never tried the Goodwill route with student loan providers.)

Nope. Its not a paid chargeoff it was transferred to another lender and is current. Yes it was related to health issues and I told them that in a goodwill letter.

I tried to dispute the account but it came back verified.

I think I will go up the ladder very high and in much more detail. I think the CEO would probably give me a response that is more favorable.

Sounds like a plan. I agree with the above poster that says that women are the best route. Men are too hard-headed when it comes to goodwill's. For more information on my female theory, look up goodwill in the FAQ and click on Rblues' experience.

    Good luck to you!

Geez, I read your thread wrong! I thought you did try the goodwill route and had success.

I may go the nutcase route then. Not much to lose at this point.
