I applied online for Target Visa and Target Guest card. Got that message that my application needed further review.

Got my Target guest card Friday--LOC $300.00
No word on Target Visa--does it ususally come at the same time? If you don't get it, do they send you a denial letter?

Also what number I call to ask them to lower the interest rate. Mine came as 24.99% but I had read a while ago that you could get it lowered by contacting them before you use it. Does that trick still work?

I think the lowering of APR was for the visa. But, it never hurts to ask.

    TARGET VISA 18.90%--15.90%--12.90%--9.90%

    OHHH $300 for TARGET GUEST~~everybody gets $200!!!

    GREAT FOR YOU!!!

I don't think you can lower the interest on the TARGET GUEST...

If you qualify for Target Visa, they will approve for Target Visa. If you don't , eiither they give you Target Guest or denied you. Now they give you Target Guest and you're not going to get Target Visa.

I was so happy when I first got this card. Afterall it was my 2nd card ever. After nine months of having the card they refuse to increase the limit, and won't convert to the visa. I have good credit scores so I don't understand why, oh well. I have sock drawered the card and will only use it two times a year from now on to keep it an active tradeline. Good luck with them...CONGRATS !! Your doing better than most...I too got the $200 limit

After six months of use I did make it to $600. The cashiers say that is highest limit they have seen on the guest card. I am going to pay it off next month and see if they will send me the VISA. Also, another trick I found out about is if you were approved for the guest card, apply for the Marshal Fields card and you will be approved, if you are just wanting open credit lines.

    You can "MAX" IT OUT...

Load up your cart once a month...tell the cashier they have to STOP at $200!!!

You "MAY" get a limit increase faster if you pay at TARGET the $200 you just spent...(AT CUSTOMER SERVICE)...before you leave...

Somebody said that you can pay at "CUSTOMER SERVICE"...I haven't done that...only paid ON-LINE for TARGET VISA...

I got a $300 and my wife got a $200. After 3 months my wife, who used her card about 4 or 5 times and paid it off each time applied for a credit limit over the phone(automatic thing) and was declined over the phone. They even sent her a letter stating it had not been 6 months yet. The next statement, however, she was bumped to $500 without anyone telling her. I used my card about 4 times in the first 2 months. I paid barely over the minimum both months. I then applied for a CL increase and got the same turndown. The next statement date they bumped me up to $500 also. Keep that in mind.

Wow thanks for all the great information--this is the first card I have had in a LONG time so I am going to be using it sparingly. Probably for one larger type purchase per month, 100. or so. that way I can just pay it off when it's due.

That's interesting about Marshall Field's too. I keep that in mind.

I was also approved for $200 and asked for an increase over the phone around 3 months. They declined me, but I ended up getting a $500 increase also. Good Luck!

So the Target Guest card is eventually converted into a Target Visa or can you have both?? I recently got an increase from $200 to $500 after just 4 months.

From what I understand you can have both cards. I don't they ever convert the Target Guest card into a Target Visa. There were some posters here mentioned that they were converted but those posts were more of the exception than the norm.

I applied for the Target Guest card first with a cl of $200.00 Than applied for a Target Visa and received a cl of $6k and thank finally applied for a Marshall Fields with an opening line of $300, which now stands at $500.00 All this came with me having a bk-13 on file.

I do have a friend that applied at the same time I did and he got a cl of 6K on his Target Visa but with a bk-7 on file. He socked draw this card this past Jan. and was notified by Target Visa last month that due to his bk-7 on file they are cutting his cl to only 2k. Like they did not know about this back when he opened the account? Of course my cl is still active. So it looks like Target Visa wants to see activity.

Also from what I understand the Target Visa is harder to get now as oppose to when they first started.

    Best regards,
    Mirage

This is a question regarding the Marshall Field's card...is it better to apply online or in the store?

    And....which CRA does Field's use?

I already have the Target GC and was interested in opening another trade line.

Is it difficult to get the Target guest card? score wise - my 3 CRA scores are around 550

Marshall Field could be a good card to use online even if you don't live in Chicago/Detroit/Minneapolis.

    Re: Re: Got Target Guest!

I don't think it makes a difference how you apply. I did it online and did not realized I was approved until the card showed up 2 weeks later. I do have this thing about applying in person as I never know who looks at my application before it goes to the credit department.

As for the CRA it was the same one as Retailers National used for the Guest Card.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

I just received my statement today and Target Guest raised my cl from $200 to $500, too. Had the card since late April. Maybe they're automatically raising cl's this billing cycle. With only a $200 cl I considered my TG a "toy card" - now that it's a $500 maybe I can replace my old microwave oven AND buy a new toaster in the same billing cycle <grin>.

TG are very easy to get. They pulled EQ on me, I have a BK and several medical collection in addition to two (2) charge offs. EQ score is only 594 and I was instantly approved for $200 CL
