WOOHOO finally have something good to report.

This was actually a really stupid thing to begin with. It was a $12 balance on a hospital bill, but it was showing up on EQ as an unpaid collection.

I sent them a check for $12, with a letter saying, Hey, Idon't think this is mine but for $12 I'd rather just pay it if you'll take it off my credit report.

Yeah, I know I should've gotten it in writing first, but I figured I'd fight it later as a paid collection if they reverified it after it was paid.

To my surprise, in the mail today, no letter, just a UDF form, delete, reported in error.

Only 2 collections left on EQ now. One is $41 and the other is $96 - both utilities. Both REALLY old.

Now the interesting part - we'll have to see how long it actually take EQ to delete it.

By the way, do I keep the original and send EQ a copy or do they have to have the original?

Hey rhondak, is there anyway you can scan that UDF, I'd love to see it. Incidently, I don't know where at the credit bureau you can send the UDF, but I know the rapid rescoring service for mortgage brokers will clear your credit quickly(3-7days) if you have either a UDF or a letter from the original creditor on letterhead and are willing to pay the ~$25 per bureau per tradeline fee. My brothers in the business if you need someone to do it. Good Luck.

It isn't necessary to pay to get something deleted once you have a UDF in hand. Fax the UDF to the cra's and they will remove the tradeline in about 3 - 5 days.

Great Job Rhonda, you handled that beautifully.

    Keep up the good work.

I'd send them a certified copy of the original, via CRRR demanding immediate removal. That way you know it won't take longer than 30 days.

In fact you might even try calling and seeing if you can fax it in.

    On to the next one.

    :)

I'm still amazed that they actually sent her the UDF. Afterall if they are still reporting something that they have reported incorrectly, its their responcibility to take it off. Just giving rhondak a UDF gives her the proof she would need to take them down in court ala Nelson v Chase!

    Nice Job!

I faxed a letter into EQ for a similar situation and they deleted in about 5 days.

The fax number I used was: 866-233-3777

Exactly. And the other cra's will do the same. No need to mail it certified and wait 30 days when they will delete it within 5 via fax. Of course, you can mail it if that's the way you want to do it.

slppryslp - usually when they send a consumer a UDF, they have also sent it to the cra. The problem is that even if they did send it to the cra, it will take from 30 - 90 days for the cra's to remove it. Faxing it gets it done much faster.

Hey George - Unfortunately I only have dial up at my one and only house (I live in the boonies) Was spoiled with DSL for the 4 years before I moved here. when we build the house, I'm going to get satellite access (equipment and installation is expensive, but will be worth it long term - just can't justify the expense in an apt.

Scorpio - it's the form that creditors use to update info with the CRAs.

    Rhonda,

Go to "Account" at the top, then "Pref"

Toward the bottom you can set the number of posts per page at 90.

    :)

slpryslp - sorry I missed this when I was responding to posts. I don't want to rescore or anything yet. I still have one more that I'm trying to get removed before we apply for our building loan.

We basically have to wait 9 months before they'll do the loan anyway - they want us to have paid on the land 9 more months (actually 8 now) so I have the next 8 months to get the last few items removed. There's only 4 or 5 left.

I used to have a scanner hooked up, but it doesn't like my new CPU so it's no longer hooked up. Sorry about that.

Thank you - sorry I missed your post before (I keep doing that - not sure why)

I will fax and also send a copy crrr. Good idea. Tried to go online with Equifax to start a new dispute - they still won't let me. Guess it will all have to be done via snail mail (crrr) from now on.

Yep onto the next one (actually 3 - 1 trade schoo, 2 utilities)

The UDF that I got is a copy. It is obviously not the original, so they either kept the original or sent it to EQ. Either way, I'll go ahead and fax a copy and mail a copy crrr just to be safe.

I need to hit EQ up for another free report. They have somehow blocked me from online access or online disputing. My last dispute was "estimated to be completed on 8/22" and I haven't been able to get online access since filing that dispute.
