Last month I had five inquiries that fell off of my TU report and low and behold they have resurfaced again........ What gives? Is there anything that I can do about them or just hang in there?

Specifically, what type of inquiry is it? I know certain inquiries won't affect your score, such as: a promotional inquiry in which your name and address were given to a lender for credit hours, such as credit card solicitations...also an account monitoring or account review inquiry in which one of your creditors performs a periodic review of your account. These inquiries remain on your file for 12 months....Internal inquires, which indicate ex. one which indicate Equifax's activity in response to your contact with them, for either a copy of your credit report or a request for research.

Are you sure that they are "HARD" inquiries?

On TU, they should be headed something like, inquiries that are visible to others.

Are the inquiries still listed under the same date as they were before? (If so, is that date within the past two years?)

Is this from a report directly from TU, or from a third party that pulls TU?

A possibility is that they really didn't fall off, but only appeared to fall off because the database didn't pull the data off correctly when the report was run, making it appear that the inquiries weren't there.

I bought a car about a year and a half ago and they ran my info three times so those are there from 2015 along with a CC that I got about 3 months later. And the 5th one was just last month. My issue is this, they had all been removed in last months report and now they show up again. They are all hard inquires and I realize that they usually are on your report around 24 months but what gives?

It sounds like the previous credit report didn't pull correctly for some reason, so they appeared to have fallen off. Those hard inquiries are supposed to be on there for 2 years from the original placement, and they usually don't just magically disappear. The good news is that hard inquiries really don't hurt your FICO scores by more than a few points each, and after 12 months they don't even have a material effect on your credit scores. So it sounds like 4 of the 5 you mention shouldn't even be affecting your FICO scores at the moment.

I agree with both of your thoughts. They are hard inquiries as they are from Toyota Motor Credit & Capital One and another company that I have a card with. Yes it is a third party report and not directly from TU so that does make sense as to what happened and it only dipped my score by 7 points when they showed up again.

7 points is nothing to sweat over too much. Hopefully your credit scores will bounce back soon as the 5th hard pull ages and you keep building positive payment history with the auto loan. Keep us posted on how it goes!
