Is a hard inquiry block possible?

First USA's credit dept. keeps making hard inquiries into my credit report without permission. They made one back in Oct. of 2002. I disputed it and they removed it.

However, during the dispute, they added a new hard inquiry (dated 4/8/2003). I said I wasn't going to let this one go and I wanted a $1000 for it. They ignored the $1000 request and said they would remove it.

I was willing to let this one go too. But then, they made two soft inquiries into my Experian report dated 4/24 and 4/28 claiming an account review. I have NEVER had any account with First USA. I had one account with BANK ONE closed back in 1996.

I contacted their legal dept via fax and said I wanted $2000 now. I just pulled my TU report and they made yet another inquiry into my Trans Union credit report on 5/8. Again, without a permissible purpose.

I think they are making new inquiries to see if they really did make a previous hard inquiry (although this is not a permissible purpose regardless).

They have now made two unauthorized hard and two unauthorized soft and I would like to know if there is such a thing as a hard inquiry block. I thought I read it is possible but I can't find any info on it.

Actually, I found it does. In fact, it is so "HARD" that neither I nor the general reps from the credit reporting agency can access it.

So, how do you do it? Simple. You have to make it look like someone else is prying into your credit report FRAUDULENTLY.

How do you do that? Just call them up and when they ask your SSN, give them the wrong number. They will then say that is incorrect and will likely lock your account, especially if you previously had a fraud alert placed on it and you are insisting the the fake number you gave them is correct. They will then lock it since they don't know what the correct SSN should be and then may contact you in the mail or something asking you to provide them with identification.

This happened with my sister's TU and Equifax report. We have similar names so I just call and act like it is my report (to help her out when disputing items since she doesn't know what she is doing) but I think it was notated on her account that she was female (because of previous identification that was sent) so now her account has been 100% locked. NO ONE can access it, including the general reps.

Talk about an easy way to stop your report from getting any worse.

Re: Is a hard inquiry block possible?

They were talking about PASSWORD REQUIRED for access of a credit report for "HARD"...

HAS NOT HAPPENED YET...

I was going to use a PASSWORD with an answer to the question like this...THE NAME OF THE OLDEST DAUGHTER OF FAMILY THAT LIVED ACROSS THE STREET FROM YOU IN 1970...

The credit card company would have to have your "CODE" on the application...OR THEY WOULD NEVER GET IN!!!

It would PREVENT CA'S from doing a "HARD" because you would NEVER give a CA your code!!!

Re: Is a hard inquiry block possible?

I'm all for that unfortunately, since CA's have a permissible purpose of collections REGARDLESS of if you authorize them to access your report, I don't think that would happen for CA's...just probably for original creditors who are trying to process applications.

But, in my situation, her report is locked completely. NOBODY can get in to it except the very high end people of the credit reporting agencies.

It is one way to stop those collection agencies :-)
