So we got two letters from two of the collection agencies we sent debt validation letters to. They didn't do anything we asked is all the sent us was the collection bill and account number. What should our next step be?

It's hard to really tell from this if what they provided is satisfactory. Plus, there's a lot of debate over what is "satisfactory" in the first place. But if they just sent you a copy of their own collection bill, that doesn't sound good enough to me.

Are the CAs still reporting the debts on your credit reports? If so, you may want to send a copy of your validation letter and a copy of the return receipt showing it was received along with a statement that you believe they have violated the FDCPA, section 809(b) and need to remove the negative entries from your credit reports.

Yes they are still reporting them on the Credit report and they did only send a copy of their collection bill. Would they have only done that because they can't validate it or because they didn't want to take the time. Also because they violated FDCPA section 809 b they should remove it? Will they really remove of your credit report? sorry for all the questions. thanks for all the help

Take a few minutes to Google the "FDCPA", find a copy, and read section 809(b). You'll want to have a clear understanding of that section for yourself.

I would argue that sending a copy of their own collection bill doesn't validate the debt. And until they do properly validate it, they need to cease collection activities which includes reporting the debt on your credit reports and holding that over your head. That's the case you make for yourself.

If they really do have the right to collect this debt, then they'll take the proper steps to provide proof that they've purchased it from the OC or have been assigned to collect it from you.

Thank you! I have read into the FDCPA and I agree with you that I need to have them validate with more information than just the collection bill. Thank you for your help I will give it a shot. It should be sent Certified mail to right?

CMRRR...that's the best way to keep an accurate record of when everything is sent and received.
