I just pulled the TU FICO and my file has been mixed with someone elses!!!!!!!!

This woman lives in the same state, her name is listed her address and her employment date as of 5/1998 (same city I live in). She apparently makes good money, she just bought a Land Rover last month. She has TONS of credit cards, most of them are maxed out, BUT there is nothing negative from her.

    WHAT DO I DO????????

Should I contact her? I have a TU affiliate and they dont allow "calling to dispute" I want to speak to someone and YELL YELL YELL!!!!!

Could this just be an online problem? Maybe you should try pulling your report one more time just to see if it was a fluke. In any event, I definitely think you should call TU asap to let them know what you observed. This is more than just a *dispute* so they should accept your call, don't you think? Good luck. Geez, I fee for ya. I bet this is going to be hell to get fixed.

Trans Union is notorious for merging files. I was a man named "Martin" for the longest time.

I would NOT call the lady. If you do, she would have the complete acct. access on your trades that you do on hers. She may use that against you for cc fraud.

I would call the TU affiliate immediately, tell them that the merged files better be unmerged in 48 hours or you'll sue them for any negative credit responses you get from current or potential creditors (i.e. apply for a card and get denied for utilization).

    Marci-
The only problem with threatening to sue (and having to follow thru) the only negatives on there are mine.

This lady has 25 accounts on here from 1989-now and they are ALL positive. After looking close, she is NOT maxed out, she's at about 21% usage.

This HAD to have happened today, cause I pulled the bogus TU score yesterday and none of this crap was on there.

I see. Even still, I'd call and make a huge fuss over it. They will unmerge it quickly. My file was unmerged in one week.

Here's a question. Since she has a good report what would happen if you applied for some cards, would they get approved?

After that, THEN you could get unmerged and be left with a nice credit line.

    JUST thinkin out loud.

    LOL

    Butch-
Believe you me, that thought crossed my mind MANY times, but my FICO score came up as a 644. I was thinking of asking for a CL increase, BUT I have a new CA as of (well what they are reporting) 12/01.

    Butch nope!!!!

She works at my local hospital and just bought herself a Land Rover, I think I've heard of her. pretty sure she's a pediatrician.

All of her accounts are "individual" except what appears to be her first ever account thats joint.

I just pulled worth nothing and it's not reporting on there. But on the FICO there are 25 accounts that are hers. 14 that are mine.

Well here's what I would do.

I'd check to see if she is a professional. If she is a pediatrician I would notify her of the problem and see if she wants to follow up with a lawsuit, at her expense of course. Since it is her information being transmitted to you, a 3rd party without permissable purpose she may have a heck of a case.

Folks like Drs. take this stuff seriously and have the resources to follow up. Maybe even in Federal District Court, in front of a jury. And you needn't worry about her trying to use YOUR identity for fraud.

Could be not only fun but financially rewarding for you too. Not to mention some fantastic experiance.

Once she see's how knowledgable YOU are you'll be hired on as a consultant I'm sure. :)

    :)

This is too serious to play around with imho. I would NOT apply for any cards while these two files are merged. It could be perceived as identity theft later on down the road. I would call TU first thing in the morning and explain what happened. The pediatrician's credit is obviously very good. If you begin applying for credit knowing the files are merged, then I would think the pediatrician as well as TU might assume that you committed identity theft. Besides, TU will never accept the blame for this mistake. They will look for a scapegoat and it just might be you. I would also follow up the telephone call with a CRRR letter explaining the whole situation, demanding that the files be separated. This letter will document the fact that this was not a case of identity theft. Good luck.

It would be interesting to see how much her score actually went down. I'll bet she'd be really happy about that! LOL

I had that problem a few years back-same exact name-same state- and pretty good credit.-pre-score days. It would have actually been better to keep her on but I was getting denied credit because my address did not match up. Of course I had to get her off. I simply disputed by writing a letter . It was Transunion I believe. She was gone within a week.
