Okay first off I want to say thanks in advance for any help.. I have been reading for a few weeks and the help and insight from admin and other members is fantastic.
    BUT semi-long story..
I have 6 deragatory marks on my credit.. still have a 680ish fico.. check a few weeks ago.. But
1st. I have 4 medical/dental bills ranging from 5 years ago to 2 years ago... when i was in college. they only total 1200 combined and figured if I Asked for a complete removal from credit(barring me paying them off in full or mutual settlement.. that they would undoubtedly go for that, I would like some input on that and how to go about that..

2nd. I have 2 marks from nelnet..... Now I had loans through my state. South Carolina educ. dept. and they sold off 2 of my loans to nelnet.. I DIDNT know this.. until a week or so ago... I since had the account caught up and paid on... 1st month.. but do I have any leeway.. with asking for removal....
I mean.. I have been paying my sc loans on time.. but had no clue that some of them were pawned off to some 3rd party... Any input....

Any input would be great and again
    thanks in advance.

Literally just contacted Nelnet.. again.. and spoke directly to a credit dispute "agent"
the account as 120 days past due in December 2011 and had a forbearance. placed(when i called in earlier this month to catch the account up.. and I am now paying, auto drafting out of my bank...
She said that the ONLY time they will erase is if you were in the military OR if there was an error or a VERY extreme circumstance; in a coma. something of that nature.. very negative thoughts in my head now.... is there any hope.. of getting this removed?

    Welcome to Creditnet sajooka!

So, who owns the medical debts now? Are they still with the OC, or have they sold them off to CAs? How do they currently appear on your credit reports?

Also, I'm a bit confused regarding your student loans. Were you paying on time but paying the wrong debt servicer? Please provide some more details regarding the situation.

As far as the medical bills 1 with CAB collections date assigned 7/2011 for $202
2 are with ic systems inc. 1 assigned 10/2009 for $452
    other assigned 1/2008 $253
Those are all the medical i believe

    I as well have

    those 2 from nelnet....
its 2 loans from SC Educ that are being processed by nelnet... i had 6 original loans with the state. they kept 4. which are paid and current no NEG remarks. but those other 2 , which total around 5-6k combined
are showing past due 120 days.. but are now current and up to date. but there are 2 120 days derogatory from nelnet...

I called today and the Credit dispute lady said they have company policy to not overturn unless its extreme circumstance, like being in a coma.. or if you were in the military... I have been reading up about people getting old remarks removed but... She wouldn't even give me the time of day.. to explain she said that no one would overturn and its on there.
Thanks in advance... a bit discouraged after that earlier.

The medical collections are small, so I would definitely go for complete deletions in return for payment in full. For those that have just been transferred to a CA for collection, contact the OC first and see if you can get them to pull your account back from collections so you can pay them directly. Medical providers are usually more willing to do this.

It sounds like the two 120-day lates are the main problem with the student loans. I don't understand how you became late if you were paying all your student loans on time. Were you just sending payments for these 2 loans to the wrong place or something? Have you tried disputing the late pays through the CRAs yet?

As far as the 2 loans from nelnet.. I was paying on my student loans... and then moved.. and just stopped paying on the ones left from nelnet.. Could be a hundred reason(excuses) I didn't pay them.. There is no clerical error.. just forgot, didn't remember or care at the time.... Not smart move.. Just wondering what is the best step... and how to perform that step dispute with the credit bureau... but what should I dispute.. Any advice is again much appreciated.
    Thanks for your time

I wouldn't rely on Nelnet to help you out here. It sounds like they believe these were legitimate late pays and they have no interest in removing them for you. You haven't tried disputing them through the CRAs yet, right? Send dispute letters, CMRRR, and dispute the accuracy of the dates since it sounds like you don't believe you were as late as they say you were in the first place. Check out our Sample Letters section if you would like to see some examples to help you write your letter.

Do i need to send one to each bureau? or just one and it will be reported to other bureaus??
If so any addresses?? That would be most efficient?
    Thanks again Josh

You need to dispute with each CRA. Here are the most current addresses we have on file:

    Experian
    P O Box 9556
    Allen, TX 75013

    Equifax
    P O Box 740241
    Atlanta, GA 30374

    Trans Union
    P O Box 2000
    Chester, PA 19022

    THANKS!! sent off 6 letters
1 to each bureau disputing those 2 loans.
and 3 PFD's to 3 different creditors for those 4 small medical/dental bills.
Hope to hear some good news next week.
Especially from Experian... The bank in which handles all of my loans uses them( which is good its 30 points higher then Equifax.... but 30 less then trans Union, but no one around here uses Trans Union)
Thanks any more input would be,again, great full thanks will update when anything is received back!!

Received a letter today( 1st one of a few I sent out) this is what it states word for word.

    "Dear ME,
Your creditor, xxxx, has provided the attached information, substantiating your responsibility for payment of the above referenced debt. If you still questions that responsibility contact us immediately....

We forward our collection experience, regarding the debts that we handle to several national credit reporting agencies in your creditors name. As a result, your dispute( Which I didn't dispute I clearly send a letter titled PAY FOR DELETE and said I would pay in full the balance owed for a deletion) regarding the claimed amount owed will be reported as well( what does well mean???) paying this debt NOW, will minimize the impact of this delinquency on that credit history. You have the right to inspect you credit rating in accordance with federal law.

Blah blah blah.. about reserving to use all info to collect debts etc....

Is this saying that they will delete this account from my credit reports( all 3) or even Say I was never late??
"well" seems like a broad term or am I just over thinking this..
    THANKS!

I'm not seeing anything that would lead me to believe they plan on deleting the account from your credit reports. To me, it looks like the CA is saying the OC provided proof that you owe the debt and they plan to report this as a collection that's in dispute to the CRAs.

Was this for one of the small medical debts assigned to a CA? If so, remember that I suggested you try to work directly with the medical provider first to see if they are willing to pull your account back from collections. Many medical providers are willing to do this and then you can pay them as opposed to having to deal with a CA.

Did you end up having any luck with nelnet? I just got a 90+ days late (December) - I had changed my phone number, email, etc after being hacked and just simply forgot. Thankfully pulled my credit to try to refinance my mortgage and it came up so I paid and am up to date. I have tried calling - no go same thing as you said only for death or military service. Have sent 2 "good will" letters and get a sorry nothing we can do response. Is it too soon to try to get this removed? I have had luck with other companies getting past late payments removed.

Has anyone had any luck negotiating with NELNET? My older daughter took out a parent plus loan for her and my younger daughter. As some point the loans needed to start being paid. I contacted my older daughter and she said "Dad, I'm paying on my loans". So I asked the younger one and she said the same. The loans went in default and transferred to dept of ED or some other agency. I worked with them and paid the loans in full. They agreed to remove credit history they had put. But NELNET refuses. I reported to Attorney General who passed it on to a consumer financial protect group. NELNET contacted me after they were notified. I thought "Great", we can get something worked out. WRONG. They refuse to work with you. They will only do so like the previous writer said. Why would they want to destroy someones credit? I paid these off in full. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told she was the highest I could speak to about this. Everyone has a boss. Everyone higher has more powers. She actually suggested I report my daughter for identity theft!! I never signed the loans. It was with electronic signature. So kids get the money and parents get screwed because NELNET does not verify anything with the parents. It's horrible that the US Government is using this servicer who could care less about destroying people's credit. They only hold loans that are paid on time. All other loans get kicked back to the Fed Gov. So they have nothing to lose. They have no incentive to help the public. It's time Washington opens their eyes.

OK done with my rant. Anyone else have any luck with NELNET or is it just like I said. No buenos?

In all my years in this forum, I've unfortunately never heard anyone describe a success story when negotiating with NELNET. They always seem to be difficult to work with and unwilling to help in even the smallest ways. No bueno. Especially since they are making BIG $$$ off of mostly federally insured student loans.

Here is what I would do...

Check over their tradelines with a fine tooth comb...

Look for any discrepancy... Even accurate but not quite accurate information... What I mean is something along the lines of this... TOTAL_BALANCE: 5,000 PAYMENTS: 36 PAYMENT_AMOUNT: 5,000

On the face, it looks accurate, you supposedly owe $5,000... BUT the not quite accurate part is the second half of the line, they are also reporting that you owe 36 payments of $5,000; or $180,000...

Then you have 3 factual details to specifically challenge; when they verify it, and (a) verify it inaccurately, or (b) forget to include the dispute notation, you have them violating...

Keep hammering at them on each CRA as often as you can...

Hint: I can not confirm or deny whether this was an issue similar to my "So you want to sue the Federal Government" post... :)
