has anyone ever dealt with money recovery nationwide? I have a 4 year old med bill with them (2 grand) and I wonder how I could work something out with them. I keep hearing that the SOL is 4 years based on UCC, but then others say 6 years in Michigan... it's been over 4 years...

I requested validation, but got a print out (during the summer) I was nervous about pursuing any further action because I'm unsure of the SOL and don't want to be sued.

the account was initially listed with experian. I disputed and it fell off. It then reappeared on Equifax, which I disputed... but it was verified (just recently)

I would like to know any info or experiences with MRN or any advice on my situation. your comments are deeply appreciated. have a happy holiday season credit improvement peeps!

If it is 4 years old, offer 25% for deletion.
They probably paid more like 5% for medical debt this old.

Don't send them a check, send a settlement agreement, do not admit to the debt.

There are some good sample letters for this.

If they sign and return, then send them a cashiers check or money order.

If it is still on your reports after 30 days, remind them they agreed to delete with an ITS letter.

1* Not pursuing this is Probably a good way to get sued.
2*Why are you concerened about being sued when you have them on enough violations to make them eat the debt.

Why pay them 500 when they owe him 2000?

How do you figure they owe him $2000?

It was disputed and deleted from one CRA. Then it showed up on another. She disputed, it was verified. Now, if she requests reinvestigation and they verify after she has given them reason to do more, I can see a violation. Not yet.

To the Original Poster--Sorry, I don't know anything about this CA. Never heard of them.

    1*She asked for validation.
They reported it to the second CRA after she requested validation.but didn't validate with her prior to reporting it.
    First $1000 violation.

They verifed the debt to the 2Nd.CRA and still haven't validated to her.
    Second $1000 violation.
What about the violation of not noting to the 2Nd.cra that the account was in dispute. ?

They sent her "validation." She never replied that what they sent was unacceptable. Therefore, in their eyes, they have validated and since she has been silent for 30+ days, they consider it to be a valid debt and have proceeded accordingly.

I don't think any judge is going to give her $1000. They don't have to report that it's in dispute. It's not. She requested validation, they replied, she did not answer. Cut and dried, they have "validated." True, if she went back and said that wasn't good enough, it would be a different story. But it's like the SOL. If you don't press, they win.

if she owes it she should at least pay part of it.

I have as long as I want to dispute an item, I thought? Actually, if I dig through my records, I could very well find that I did respond to their poor excuse for validation...

anyone else heard of them? I'm thinking that if no one in "online credit land" has not heard of them, I might be able to scare them...

You are correct there is no expiration date on a sent validation request .

Re: Re: Re: Re: HELP with MONEY RECOVERY NATIONWIDE

You do have as long as you want to request validation. However, since they sent you something, after 30 days of no response they consider they you have implicitly accepted. You can go back now and tell them that what they sent you is not accurate, and now they would have to report it in dispute. They probably won't, that's a violation. But it isn't a violation for them to do it when you haven't replied to them.

    date of service 10/26/99

    billed...

CA contacted 2001 or 2002, gave them a hundred bucks for two months, never requested validation

sent request for validation april 6, 2003
    ignored.

sent second request may 7, 2003

received letter on CA letter head with name of OC, my name balance...

they made a few phone calls and sent a few dunning letters since then.

i disputed with equifax last month and during that process i received another dunning letter.

the bill is 2,000... I can't pay that.

I thought med bills were 4 years in mi based on uniform commercial codes... but others say contract 6 years.

if i follow through with validation request, i'm nervous about being sued.

    any advice?

Since they're contacting you, you might as well go for the validation. If they weren't after you, I might say let sleeping dogs lie. But since they're contacting you regularly, if they're going to sue, they'll sue anyway.

Write them a letter and tell them that the printout is not adequate to prove that this is your debt. You don't remember it. Ask them to send you something that you signed to authorize the medical care.

Did you have any insurance, and if so, did they pay anything?

they paid 170, but bounced it back like a year later saying that my insurance cancelled the same day i entered the hospital...so there were two accounts in collection on experian, but whent they entered in the equifax trade, it was just one.
