I made a payment by phone last night. the rep said it would take 2-3 business days to post to my account. today i noticed it was posted but did not show in my available credit. when i called to ask about this the rep said it could take up to 14 days to post it to my available credit. i have never had any kind of payment problems with household in the past i pay it off by the due date every month. has anyone else had this problem with them before?

I've never done a payment by phone with HHold, always online. Was your payment due that day? I'm just wondering because I know they charge a fee for phone payments but if it took 2-3 business days to post maybe next time just make a payment on their site? I schedule mine 2 business days before each Friday (I get paid weekly) and haven't ever had my payments held- plus it's a free service. Granted, I've only had the account for a few weeks but I haven't had a problem so far.

Was it a large payment? When I used to have an account with 1st Nat'l Bank of Marin they'd hold anything over $100 for 10-14 business days.

no its not due till the 21st. it was only for 281.17 but thats almost at its limit. i was going to use my banks bill pymt service but that takes 2 business days. with the weekend coming i wouldnt have been able to use it for five days. the thing that annoys me is that i've done it before without it being held and the rep never told me it would be held

I always use the payment online method - if I pay over the weekend it doesn't post until monday.... I think the online method schedules the posting of payment for the next business day. They won't allow it to schedule for the same day.

Most banks do not close \cash out till the close of biz that day if the COB is 5 pm friday then anything posted after that date wiil be in monday work so it may not get posted until 5.01 monday evening.
Even tho you account may reflect the payment the bank finalises everything after the COB for the day ..
Most back do not do tellering stuff real time..
It may appear that way but in the end it all get done after the COB .
This is really to protect them and stops folks from floating checks etc also if the teller screwed up they can catch it before it gets posted
Usually the only caveat is for cash deposits made to a teller.

I use fleet CC and the nice part about them is if I pay in cash at a fleet bank it gets posted the same day.
