Home Depot Card, Please Help I thought I read somewhere that you had to have a high credit score to get a home depot card and that they only start you out with $250. Is this true? Please let me know what your experience is with this card.
I had a promo inquiry on TU in November from Home Depot and was then offered the card in Febrary in the mail. My TU fake score was ~ 611 and my Eloan score was ~660. They gave me a $1,250 limit which was the max "up to..." on their offer. Oddly enough there never was a hard inquiry on any report from my accepting the offer. They did it all from the promo inquiry they pulled on TU.
Re: Home Depot Card, Please Help dtg, I have pre-approval application for Home Depot Card that came with my Exxon Card three years ago. They approved me for $400. I requested limit increase from time to time and my limit is increased to $8800. Two years ago, they lowered my APR to 9.9% fixed due to my good credit history. Ron.
Re: Home Depot Card, Please Help Ron- how did you get the APR lowered ?? Thanks- mj PS: they don't do hard inquries - if you're "pre-approved" it's firm. They have only done soft AR's on my account since I've opened it. -mj
Re: Home Depot Card, Please Help mj, They just sent me a notice to notify me that I got 9.9% fixed for purchase. I notice they pulled soft inquiry on my Equifax for account review. By the way, I got pre-approval because I have Exxon Card with them. By the way, I haven't request any lower rate and they just lower my rate due to my excellent credit history. That's the lowest rate I have seen from them. Ron.
Re: Home Depot Card, Please Help I don't have a pre-approval. Do you think it is worth going for? We are buying a new house and will need some things. I would think if your not pre-approved that there would be a hard inquiry. Who has a home depot card without a pre-approval and how much did you get at what credit score. Thanks
Re: Home Depot Card, Please Help My husband has one, no preapproval, they pulled Equifax 670 at that time, got a whopping 300 limit
Re: Home Depot Card, Please Help I've heard that if you apply while trying to make a large initial purchase you are more likely to be approved for a higher limit than if you apply without a specific purchase amount. Rumor only -- but if you are going to apply anyway you might as well try it.
Re: Home Depot Card, Please Help I have a Home Depot card with a $500 limit. I had been previously turned down in the store. I applied online during the summer time because I heard a rumor that they relax their approval criteria a bit during the summer time in order to help boost their sales. Hope that helps, KernelPacket
