How shall I sign my name to CA?

Good Afternoon all! This may be a silly question, but I hope you are willing to answer me today. I'm sending a validation request to a CA that has re-aged an account. Do I sign the name that they are using? Or my current, married name? I would assume I use my married name, but I know it's advised not to give them too much information. Please advise. Thank you! NEVER sign your name to ANY CA letter. Your signature may later appear on a payment agreement with th CA, then you have to prove fraud. CA's send unsigned letters - you do the same.

Thank you IOU. I realize not to sign my signature. LBrown let me in on that a couple weeks ago. I should have stated it better in my subject line. What I mean is how to type my signature. The CA is using an old name. But I decided to use my current name anyway because I would just feel better about it, and they can't verify anyway. Thank you!

I would guess use your single name. If they have your maiden name, and not your married name, it is harder to sue you in the future. Also, what about the address they mailed the letter to ? Did you marry and stay at the same address ? If not, it sounds like they may have an old address and old name - if so, don't mail anything because they can't find you. Also, are they reporting on any credit reports ? Are you within the SOL ?

Yes George!! We know that part!! The question is about Jane Doe's CA's not having Doe as her last name, they have her as Jane Beforeiknewdoe[/COLOR=RED]. So should she sign her name as Beforeiknewdoe so they don't have more information about her, or sign her current, legal name, Jane Doe?

The CA got my current adress from the CRA's but apparently not my married name.

The SS# is their "KEY" to get into your account...

If they have already re-aged the account, WHY are you sending them a Validation Letter?

Send an ITS letter demanding your $1000 Statutory Damages plus removal of the offending trade line or you sue.

Use whatever name they have in their files.

Dont give them anything other then what they already have. If they have your name listed as BEFORE you were married then use that.

    Good luck

lol..... Thank you lbrown, I needed that laugh! My moniter went up in literal smoke and sparks... so I had to buy a new one today. I wish I had gotten flyings message before hand... If I'd known I could do that, I would have saved myself much agravation as the letters went out this morning. Ah well, I know they can't validate, so I'll just wait it out until it's time for the next letter. Thanks all for your input! I used my current legal name, without reference to the old name.... because I couldn't get all of your responses!!! Praise Costco... new moniter! :) NuB
