    How to stop a payment

Before I found this board I mistakingly agreed by phone to pay off an old JC Penny debt to a CA. I agreed to two equal payments taken off my Visa Debit card - one on July 13th and one on Aug 13th. Now that I found this board, I want to stop the last payment unless I get a pay for deletion agreement from the CA. How should I go about stopping payment without actually having to cancel my card? I am afraid a letter will take too long to make this agreement with the CA work so I am most likely gonna have to call them with a threat to cancel my card.

    Thanks for any advice,
    Furtik

    How to stop a payment

Debit card transactions are difficult to cancel before they occur, however you could try to see if your bank could stop transactions for that specific amount; but then they could subtract a penny, to get it to a different amount, and sneak through.
