Hello all, my name is Leslie... I am moving from Philly back home to Virginia, and I ran my credit today, and saw that there was a judgement on my credit from June 2007... It had the county court attached to it, so I called the county, to see what it was. Long story short, it was a judgment in the amount of $300.00 from Bally Total Fitness. Now, I used to loive in California, moved to Virginia about six years ago. The first time that I had heard of this debt was after I had moved to VA. I spoke to a rep from Bally, who was very rude, and left me with no options... I NEVER opened an account at Bally... I used to go there a lot with free passes, but that was it. Never gave them my SSN or anything. So I am assuming this is identity theft...

Almost six years later, I am about to move into a condo. The landlord sais that as long as I have no judgments, I can move in... But I have this issue. I am assuming that a judgment is a judgment is a judgment, and doesnt matter where or who it came from, its still a judgement. My fear is that I will get turned down for the apartment, but ultimately, I am in need of advise on how to get this resolved.

I called the court house who referred me to Assett Acceptance, who in turn referred me back to the court house. What I need to know is once I get the copy of the contract, and the paper work thatwas used to open the account with Bally, then what? Do I go to the bureaus and plead my case? Do I gfo to the police and file a police report for a six or seven year old issue?

Thanks in advance for your help on this matter. I check my credit every year, and this was my findings for today... LOL.... Go figure.

May be not ID theft, but Bally's pulling a fast on on you. When you went there with the free coupons they probably signed you up for a membership without your knowledge. Did you EVER fill out anything or just walked in there with the free coupons?

I never filled out anything, but the lady at the court house says that there is a contract with my signature on it... I live in Philly, so its not feasible for me to see, since the record is in Virgnia... I only used the coupons that my mom gave me... The only thing that I could think of is someone may have gotten my info while I was working out, and got into my locker somehow??? I dont know...

Call the courthouse and see if they will mail you the papers from the file. Is this from a location where you even lived?

Yes, this is Bally in California, where I lived before moving to Virgnia...
