My life is one large confusion. I have notice this and grudgingly accept it.

I finally backed down and bought for my husband one of those FICO scores with an Equifax credit report to boot.

    My husband's score was 749.

The FICO people said that his score is not higher because the proportion of balances to credit limits on his revolving accounts is too high (60%). Okay, fine. No surprise there.

But when I put it through the FICO Simulator simulating if his paying down the balance, his score went down to 709 - 722.

    WTF. Catch-22's all the way.

Also, when I simulated his transferring to another credit card with a lower APR, his simulated score also went down to 709 - 722.

It this credit stuff all guesswork or what?

P.S. My score was 809. YAY! I did the happy dance when I saw that!

809! Crikey! I've never even met a person with a score that high. Please tell me it's all cause credit net helped you clean up your reports.

I've seen other people complain of the FICO simulator producing... strange, and obviously flawed results.
I've never seen anyone post that it had done something so obviously wrong.
When I run *my* report through it, all of the end results are actually credible, although I'm sure they're a little off.

    Tom,

Thank you, and I want to congratulate you on your raising your score. It isn't easy, and I'm sure you're proud!
