    The conversation with Experian....

Hi, I was calling because their are addresses on my report that are wrong and I'd like them deleted.

"Certainly sir...which address would you like deleted?"

    123 Happy Lane

"Why do you want it removed?"

    Cuz it ain't mine.

"Have you ever lived there or received mail there?"

    NO

"I can delete that for you anything else?"

    Yes....123 Lappy Hane Dr

"Did you ever live or receive mail there sir?"

    NO

"I can delete that for you anything else?"

.....We repeated this same conversation over and over for a total deletion of 15 addresses!

Equifax needed proof of my current residence so I sent in by fax a utility bill and a cover letter requesting deletion. He said he will delete them once they are received and will send me a updated report.

Transunion....I hate them. Couldn't speak to a real person because they said Michigans accounts with them are being handled through CBC in Buffalo NY.
All correspondence has to be through the mail.

    Any thoughts?

Hey all you braniacs out there! Does this come into play?

    § 609. Disclosures to consumers [15 U.S.C. § 1681g]

    (B) in the case of a consumer reporting agency that compiles and maintains files on consumers on a nationwide basis, a toll-free telephone number established by the agency, at which personnel are accessible to consumers during normal business hours.

Thanks for the post. That law is kinda vague. It don't mention anything about them having to have the phone line....seems it only mentions A phone line....weird huh?

    Who knows...

sorry about the blank posts, i dont know what happened. Anyway, i was browsing the ftc site today and came across info that placed serious regs on how CRA's operate. They dictated paper sizes of no smaller than 8.5 x 11 and fonts no smaller than 8 pts. I also saw that all cra's have to maintain toll free nationwide pho9ne lines to provide service. Wish I had a link for you but I have been obsessing over football, rather than credt for a change. Hope it helps. Do a google on the FTC sit and I am sure you can find it.

yes all CRA's need a toll free number for consumers to call into...

that being said - I would forget about calling and spend the extra money and send a CMRRR letter requesting they delete - this way you have proof - a phone conversation doesn't prove you asked for anything

I just got a report from CBC out of Buffalo New York. There is a 800 # on it -
    1-800-632-1765
Don't know if it works as I haven't tried it yet.

Let me guess...the report you got from CBC was TransUnion wasn't it?

You must be in the midwest somewhere....
