I'm sorry, this has to be said...

Will you folks who join this board one week and then begin credit repair the next PLEASE stop it? You can't possibly know what you are doing. Would you try to rebuild an engine after watching someone for a week???

I've said this before, newbies have got to do their homework and understand the playbook BEFORE playing the game. It's that simple. Credit repair is a SERIOUS task to undertake and going into it blind will come back to bite you.

I know I'm gonna get ripped for this but it had to be said. That being said, understand that I am not directing this at all newbies (I was one not so long ago). I'm directing it at those who think they can just jump right in with no knowledge.

.....Let the stoning begin (putting my armor on ;)

    Amen!!!

I read for 2 months before I understood what I was dealing with. I knew so much about FCRA and the FDCPA my co-workers told me to go into law.

AMEN! I whole-heartedly agree. There are pros and cons to everything.

    Quite the contrary.

What you said rings true. I'm only sorry that some folks dove in head first without really understanding what they were doing before taking that step.

    Don't be sorry!

It's true. This happens with many things, especially when there is a place on the web to go for help. People jump in with both eyes closed and then run to the message board for help when the slightest thing goes wrong...

You are very right. I did just that. I guess I am paying for it now. But I just don't know what more I could have done even if I did read more.

The CA validated to the TEE at least Arrow did.

Read my treads and you be the judge. What would have you done. End result Summons and Complaint from Arrow.

No Asset is another story. I may have a case there, but I still will have to end up paying something....

Bottom line is wait to the SOL is up. Then Validate...

100% correct. I have been repeating this over and over. People need to read the FCRA and FDCPA and understand which parts pertain to their situation. Then, they need to read this board, then read some more, and then more. They need to understand why something is done, how it works, does it pertain to them., what can go wrong etc.. Then they can make an educated decision on how to proceed.

Don't do something because you read someone else did it, and then 2 weeks later say "now what do I do". If you have to ask that question, you shouldn't have done anything at all.

This comes from an admitted newbie........

Maybe that armor should be mirrored on the inside so you could take a look at yourself.

I've been watching the boards for some time now, and just joined. I joined for the same reason most others do, to ASK FOR HELP!

Look at the posts and you see time and again,

    Newbie needs help!

    A little help here!

    What do I do now?

No one comes in thinking they have all of the answers, but some come in with a twist or story that actually helps everyone even the nasty old ones (yes, that barb was directed at you)

Give us a break here, we admit we are newbies and we come hat in hand asking for help or at least a direction to be sent in.

    pulse....

You should have, as someone in another thread said, stepped back and looked at the situation. You have a CA that bought a $5K debt for probably pennies on the dollar. Of course they're gonna take a shot at it - huge profit margin.

Instead of assuming they won't validate, you need to formulate plan B in the event they DO validate. I feel bad for ya. I just hate to see people get hammered because they moved too quickly.

I know what you mean, I hope some good comes out of this entire mess. I hope new members read my story about validation........

If you read the rest of my posts, you would see I actually am not nasty (or old).

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with asking for help. There IS something wrong with studying for a few days (even weeks) and then jumping in without knowing WHY you are doing something or HOW to do it or WHEN or how it can hurt you.

I have been posting for 2 months and lurking for maybe 3 or 4 and I am a NEWBIE and will consider myself a newbie for a LONG time...

as a newbie to other newbies I just want to stress the importance of knowign what you are getting yourself into. It is a huge undertaking (fixing credit) ..

Read as many threads as you can take and when you get tired, read more.. one GREAT thing I discovered about the board is a thing called subscribing.. You can in a way bookmark important threads in your creditnet account. I have about 2 dozen threads that deal with some of the specifics that I am or will go through. (Helpful stuff) ...

for for some of the Vets, (I havn't notice this being a problem) but PLEASE don't shoot anyone down for asking stupid questions (if it is in the FAQ section just tell them to read the FAQ)..,, I have been seeing LOTS of basic (FAQ) questions being asked and so far most if not all people have been GREAT about pointing the FAQ out.....

So I shouldn't feel that bad that it's been 2-3 weeks and I have no clue? :)

    Re: Don't be sorry!

I think what people need to understand is that we are all just feeling our way around credit repair. What may work for one, may not work for another because we all have different situations. We offer suggestions, share our successes and don't blame one another if it doesnt work. Validation is just that. Validate the debt to me. If they validate, then you have to be prepared to go to the next step: negotiate the debt because they have proven that its yours. Period. I personally have a BK 13 that I have disputed for almost a year and it comes back validated everytime. There are some on this board who validate their BK's and they might come off on the first try. So, for the newbies, no one is saying don't ask questions because we all still do. But, as said before, read, do searches, and understand all or most of the consequences when you choose to do this.

Well said. I've been here since December and I still make mistakes. Glad I didn't run off to court right away.

I was told when I first came here that it took time to mess up my crdit and I shouldn't expect to clear it up overnite.

I have been here for two months....guess I should have waited but like everything else I do in my life I try to study and be persistant. That was the only way I got my house being a single parent. I didnt go away after the first "no" and I thought this was a place to ask questions. I simplly ask for opinions, I please be reassured the I have read the FAQ section (several times) and I read this board every single day trying to learn and apply to my situation. I will be the first one to admit I dont have a clue as to what I am doing, all I know is I need to get myself in a better place. I am sorry if my questions are stupid, but please please tell me they are stupid instead of ignoring me. I am sorry if I have bothered or offended anyone.

    Welcome!

There is nothing wrong with asking questions. Just make sure you understand what you are doing and why. Also make sure you understand the ramifications if something goes south.

I read this board for 3 months before joining and starting my credit repair. I also made sure I UNDERSTOOD the FCRA and FDCPA before I started spouting stuff off to CRAs, OCs, CAs, and the like. Make sure you understand these laws before you get too involved.

No one is saying that your questions are stupid, Jenasea9 and as far as the ignoring goes, that happens to everybody. The posts go so fast on here that not everyone gets answered right away so if you have a question and you see that it starts heading toward the bottom of the board, give it a little "bump" every now and then to bring it back to the top. Eventually someone will be able to answer it. But, rest assured, its not because we consider it stupid. By the way, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!
