I just received my Equifax credit report (paper copy) and all the information is OK except that they have my phone number printed incorrectly. It is not my phone number. Is this something to be alarmed about? Can Equifax correct it for me? Transunion and Experian have my number correct.
You can file a dispute and have it removed. It is your option to provide them with your correct phone number. Remember, if they have your phone number then so will any CA who is looking for you.
Make it simple: use the report number on your report, call them, and tell them the number is incorrect. They will dispute it, delete it, and you can then choose to send in a correct number via the US Mails. Not sure why you would want your phone number on your credit report, but that is your choice. It will take you 3 minutes to get it deleted via a simple call to their toll free number.
This happened to me, but with one of my address line. I called them, disputed it and they edited/changed it to the correct one.
