    Hi all,
I'm new to this board and looking for a little help. I'm trying to pay off a debt with Nationwide Collection Agency, also known as Money Recovery Nationwide for an old medical bill I have. But I just cannot seem to find a phone number for them. I have found 517-886-5550, which is no longer a valid number; and 207-255-6665, which is now apparently a church phone number. I've tried every search I can think of, but only come up with those two numbers. Does anyone have a valid number for them or an idea as to how to get one? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

They're located in either Lansing MI or Franklin MI so far by what I've found. I've tried the BBB but for some reason the site keeps making my browser crash.

is it on your credit report ? Did you try pulling up your credit report to see if they have a contact number for them.

That's where I got the first phone number from was my credit report, the second number I got from searching online. Neither of which actually work, lol. I'll keep hunting, maybe tomorrow my pc won't be so temperamental and I can look it up on the BBB site.

I did some research and here is what I turned up. I found a web site and some info for nationwide collection agency which did not work. At least the web site didn't. However the Money recovery nationwide web site does work, and it has some numbers I don't think you had on original post. Good luck and I hope this helps. I would caution you against giving out your information before making 100% sure they are the account holder.

The fact that you had to chase them down, they changed names and have a web address that does not work may be enough to get ol spidey sense tingling for me. Think about it they are in the business of extracting money from people, why not have a link that directs people to the correct web site, why not continue to pay for the phone number in the event some one is trying to buy a house and they need to pay an old debt or something. I may be a glass half empty guy but I if I ran a business where some one can pick up a phone and pay me years down the road and I had to change my number, web url, etc. it would only be because I had something to hide. Otherwise I am going to forward, forward and forward. At least keep the number I am going to give the bureaus current From some of the stuff I have read on budd hibbs, Buffalo News, etc. collectors don't turn down money and it is not beneath them to create and falsify documents. Like anything else not all of them are like this but the bottom of the barrel guys are so best of luck to you and I hope this helps you out and you find a resolution.

As I mentioned in my other post, don't pay them anything until they prove that the debt they are trying to collect is really yours, that they have a right to collect it, and that the amount is correct. You want to make sure that any interest or fees they have added are legal.

Don't assume because they say you owe it to them that it's true. More than one person has paid a debt to the company that said it was owed to them, only to have another company coming to collect the same debt.

Don't be in such a hurry to pass out money. You are not paying the people who provided the service. You are dealing with someone who has probably paid pennies on the dollar for the debt and has no documentation to prove it.

Thanks for the help everyone! I actually got their phone number off the BBB site this morning. I called and was surprised that the woman was actually very nice and she is sending me all the appropriate "paper trail" papers to verify that the debt is mine, where it came from and so forth, without having to ask for it. So upon verification, I will get it in witting that upon payment it will be removed from my credit report. So they were pretty hard to track down, but so far they seem to (on their own) be handling it in the right manor. So thanks again for the help on this one, I will do my best to mind all my p's and q's before I pay anyone!
