We all know that the CRAs leave hard inquiries on the bureau for 2 years. But, I was wondering how the justify it. Could someone tell me if I am misinterpreting these FCRA regs somehow?

    $609 Disclosure to consumers:

    (3) (A) Identification of each person (including each end-user identified under section 607(e)(1) [§ 1681e]) that procured a consumer report

    (i) for employment purposes, during the 2-year period preceding the date on which the request is made; or

(ii) for any other purpose, during the 1-year period preceding the date on which the request is made.

To me, (ii) says 1 year and inq goes bye-bye!

    along with

    (5) A record of all inquiries received by the agency during the 1-year period preceding the request that identified the consumer in connection with a credit or insurance transaction that was not initiated by the consumer.

    Anyone?

That is a really good point!
I haven't checked to see if this has been discussed here before but from what you've quoted it seems like 1 year should be the limit for ALL but employment inqs. Why do they get away w/ 2 yrs? -Sometimes a little more if EX dates of how long the inq. will remain on your rpt dates are followed. I had thought softs were a year but EX told me no it's 2 yrs and that I shouldn't care.
