What a little "in" crowd we have here!

Has anyone else spotted any other message boards with this much jargon?

CRA - Credit Reporting Agency. Bad guys. They always blame their mistakes on:

CA - Collection Agency. Really bad guys! They always blame the CRA's (above).

Tradeline - An entry in your credit history. Many of us go through hell to make certain ones to go away. Others want certain ones to appear.

CC - Credit Card.

LOC - Line of credit. Not too much different than a CC account but generally more of a hassle to use.

BT - Balance Transfer. What you use to remove a balance from a card that does you wrong! The evildoer goes into the...

SOCK DRAWER - Credit card purgatory. Where you place the CC's from companies that just won't play ball with you. The idea is to have them come begging for your business again.

BT promo - A BT at a promotional rate. Used to ping-pong balances around so that you end up paying less on your unsecured debt than you do your (secured) car loan, or maybe even your mortgage!

CL - Credit limit. Many people use rather unorthodox yet crafty methods to snag more of this. (See Citi Backdoor Double)

CHOD - (need help with this one)

Citi Backdoor Double - Rapidly applying for multiple Citibank CC products with the intention of combining their CL's. No longer effective?

BK7 - Chapter 7 (bankruptcy) The Mark Of The Beast and a CRA entry to avoid (or eliminate) at all costs!

CCCS - Consumer Credit Counseling Services. Good guys with a fair mission statement who will take your money, make delinquent payments to your creditors, and trash up your tradelines with their notations. Oh, and they might save you some money. Or not.

Litigious Nutcase Letter - A letter written by PsychDoc that you can use to make yourself look like a lawsuit-happy whacko in an attempt to make paid collection/charge-off tradelines disappear for good! Best when notarized and sent via certified mail for maximum psychological effect (why do you think he's called PsychDoc?!?)

Silent - Credit accounts (often Amex LOC) that do not appear on your credit history in any way, shape, or form. Great places to hide debt! Poor places to build credit!

TU - Transunion. A CRA.

EXP (or EX) - Experian. Another CRA.

EQ - Equifax. Another CRA.

FICO score - Fair Isaac. A black-box credit scoring system used to predict (and in many people's opinion CAUSE) a borrower's future default. Also known as BEACON. 500's: You have a lot of work to do. 600's: You're not done yet. 700's: You're golden. 800's: You're God.

CE score - CreditExpert score. A bullsh!t facsimile of FICO scoring cooked up by Experian (a CRA) and not used by any lender. Intended to part consumers with their hard earned cash.

Mr Cooke - A privacy conscious gentleman who works for Capitol One's Executive Retention(?) department. He is loved by many and is often regarded as a candidate for elevation to sainthood.

PFB - Planetfeedback.com. A nifty site that will hold your hand through the process of writing an electronically submitted feedback letter to faceless corporations and optionally share them with the general public. Also a great place to read train-wreck letters written by livid yet clueless people who inflict their unruly progeny on the general public in stores and restaurants and somehow expect the management to tolerate them or even welcome them back.

Any others I left out?

RM :-)

Re: The creditnet glossary!

Goodwill letter - correspondence or letter created by PsychDoc to get late payments removed, due to some unfortunate event in your life that caused the late payments, from your current and positive tradelines.

For the new people how about adding descriptions of a dispute, verification, cease and desist, and validation letters.
