I am a newbie at fixing my credit and have been reading a lot. I have a couple of questions. The main problem with my credit report (besides my available credit to debt ratio, currently 64% used) are late payments. I have seven potentially negative accounts and five accounts in good standing. I want to deal with the late pays. Some of them date back to 98 but two are fairly recent. In November I had to find a new job and got a little behind. The latest I have is a 60 day past due but some accounts do have two late pays on record.

My main question is should I begin with a good will letters or go directly to disputing them with the CRAs. And, if I do one will that hurt my chances of following up with the other or is there anything else I should consider?

This board has been very informative and helpful. Thanks for any assistance.

If the account is a pretty good one that has a relatively long history, a Goodwill Letter might be the first place to start to keep the account as a positive one.
    Longevity means a lot.

Why should they be making money off you every month and thank you for it by trashing your credit.

In your case since you don't really have anthing over 60 days late on your CR and each account only has a couple late pays, and I would dispute the accounts as never late instead of the usual recommendation of not mine.
