lean against mortgage ?

    Can a credit card company put a lean against my mortgage ?

    Actually, they put a lein against your house. They can't make you sell the house but, before you can sell or even re-fi you have to satisfy the lein.

    They have to sue and win and then get the judge to grant permission to file the lein. Once a judgment is granted, it can stay for years and will accure interest at a rate stipulated by state law.

    LEIN FOR UNSECURRED CREDIT ON A HOUSE???

    liens can be filed for unsecured debt. Basically a judgment is a lien if you own property in the county where the judgment is recorded and you have equity in that property it then "attaches" and must be paid at or before closing if you sell the "attached" property.

    Then WHY is it called UNSECURRED debt...if they can LEIN your house???
