I've done what I feel I can working myself to clean up my credit, and still have not gotten to the point I want to be at (financing a house). I wanted to know if anyone on the message board has dealt with Lexington Law for credit repair assistance. If so, would you be willing to give your opinion of how well they worked for you (how long you stayed with them, how many derogs you had to begin with, how many derogs got removed) I figure if I can do something that will drop the interest by 2 points on a mortgage, it would be worth spending some cash to get someone else to help. Thanks in advance for all your assistance. ChrisB
If it means anything... (the Great) Psychdoc has "endorsed" them a few times... I believe he used them "early" in his credit repair endeavor, but then "out-grew" them...
A friend used them for a very short period of time .They disputed 9 items foe her and only got 1 removed. She cancelled after that so who knows
I used them in the beginning...they don't do anything you can't do yourself for free...I'd keep going on your own and save the money or better yet put toward your balances. I believe they just dispute not mine...for me, they disputed the "insignificant" things first...payed collection for $50 or some nonsense and left an authorized user charge off of $10000...their responses to my questions came later and later, if at all...I wish I had found this board before lexington...my opionion ....do it yourself!
I don't know if this applies to Lexington or not - but you do need to be very careful with credit repair agencies. I had one dispute (and get deleted) one of my GOOD accounts - a $100,000 mortgage that was never late! So.... beware. Some of these companies definitely don't know what they are doing. (again, I am not saying specifically Lexington - as they weren't the one I used). KNOW what they will do before you join up. And, it is becoming more and more clear - one CAN do your own credit work better. You have control, you know what's been done, and there are less "surprises".
I agree, do it yourself. I used Lexington in the beginning, just as PsychDoc did. I outgrew them and found this board. I have begun working on it myself. Lexington was great to me, but I no longer felt they could do me any more good. They had about 5 negatives on each Credit Report deleted. They are good if you are lazy like me. ha ha
