Looking for Sample Letter for 'Clock Re-starting'

    Hi all,

Forgive me my ignorance, but I've looked through the sample letter portion of the site and didn't find one I could use to address the fact that a collection agency has 'updated', or 're-started the clock', on an old debt to keep it within the statute of limitations. My understanding is that the SOL begins with the first delinquent payment (providing you are never caught up current again).
Is there any chance there's a sample letter for this in there and I simply overlooked it?

    Thanks so much.

Went to other boards, and couldn't find any either. I would make a letter short and simple:
    To whom it may concern:
I first became delinquent on this bill October 15 (or whatever date) 2002. California (or wherever you are) has a statute of limitations of four years (or whatever your state's is).
Your ability to collect on this debt expired on October 15, 2006.

Sign the letter, then ask someone to take a picture of your fist but middle finger sticking out. Make a copy of that picture and send it along with your letter. They'll get the hint

Why worry about it? If it's truly SOL, then let them come after you. You have an affirmative defense and can be racking up violations in the meantime.

    Thanks for the replies.

Reading back over my post I realize I wasn't clear enough - I'm actually looking for a form letter to be sent to the credit reporting bureaus, not a collection agency. I checked my report recently because a junk debt buyer has started making calls to find me. Also, I don't know the exact date I stopped making payments, only the year.

    Thanks again.
