Lowes and Crap One

This is actually my mother's card but I wanted to help her since it is my purchases that are causing all the problems. Last spring I decided to finish off my basement. My mother has excellent credit. She has a Lowes/Crap One Platinum Visa with a 20k credit limit so she suggested I use it to buy what I needed (the plan was to get the basement finished, have it appraised and then take out an equity loan to pay off the card). We waited until they had one of those "No payment, no interest for one full year on purchases over $399".

My first purchase was in March for about $1,000. I made two purchases in July, one for $5,000 the other for about $1,500. All of the purchases were during the promotion period and well over the advertised amount. She ended up making a small purchase for about $200 in August. Before I go any further, let's just say my mom is meticulous when it comes to her bills. She wrote the exact amount for her small purchase and put the purchase date and reciept number in the memo. She immediately paid the small purchase off. The following month she got a letter saying she missed her payment. She called and found out that they had taken her payment and put it towards the March bill even though that was a promotional purchase that didn't need to be paid until March '07. They said they would fix it.

Now we are in October and she gets another letter saying that she is now two months behind. She called Crap One and now they are saying Lowes didn't ring up her purchase in March as promotional and that's where the problem is. She went to Lowes, they said they did ring it up correctly but they called Crap One (while she was there) and explained that all but one purchase was promotional. They have since sent copies of her purchases to Crap One. Overall Lowes has bent over backwards to help her. Crap One claimed again that the problem would be fixed.

In January she sent them a certified letter with copies of her receipts saying "promotional purchase" on the bottom and copies or the fliers showing that on the purchase dates Lowes was running a special. They sent her back a letter saying it was forwarded to the interested department and she would receive a response "if applicable." Last month everything kinda hit the fan. Initially it was a letter saying her car insurance rates are going up "due to credit report issues." Then came all her other credit card statements saying that "due to a failure to pay on another card her interest rate on their card is being raised." Then Crap One sent her a statement saying due to her delinquency on payment her card has been cancelled. She also owes late payment charges and interest on all purchases dating back to March '06.

I'm at a loss as to what she should do at this point. Any suggestions?

You've got to be kidding. She doesn't want to sue. She just wants it fixed. I just got off the phone with her she said she got a letter today saying her Crap One account was sold to GM Bank. Is this some kind of scam they pull so they won't have to fix the account?
