Please read the posting I found on bankrate.com. I don't think I'm going to try and get a card with these people. Where's the incentive?!?!

    Subject: MBNA: Two Thumbs Down

I recently paid off my MBNA card and will never use it again. I ran up a fair amount of credit card debt as a graduate student and have been working hard to pay it down. The original rate on the MBNA card was an intro rate and then went up to about 17%. While my total debt load (on all debts) has been decreasing, the interest rate was increasing -- up to a whopping 25% a year ago -- I never missed a single payment, was always under my balance, and generally paid more than twice the minimum payment. The last straw came a month ago -- I had paid off the card and had a negative balance, so I went to use the card for a minor $35 purchase so that the balance would be close to $0 -- I was informed that the card had been cancelled. When I called MBNA, they told me that they felt that I had enough credit on my other cards, so I didn't need theirs anymore -- after pulling myself down off of the ceiling, I was able to get them to reopen the account -- I wanted the credit to show up as as available to help with my credit score. I feel like I was penalized by them for paying off the card!

I rate MBNA a 5 star, highest rating, great on line site. Raised my credit line 1500 last year and 500 this year without requesting. Will send out 4.9% checks with 30 fee to do with as you like up to your available credit. Cash is same as purchase credit line. Will soon be getting another MBNA account as they bought out First Tennessee. 12.99% on purchases and cash line is also 12.99%.

    MBNA

I've never had a bad experience with this bank for the last two years. They gave me several line increases and better interest rates without even asking for them. They also promptly respond to all of my requests by mail. I recently upgraded my card to Quantum and the benefits are great for no fees. Overall, I would rate their customer service to be just as good, if not better than American Express.

I give MBNA a high rating. They are great at 6 month teaser rates offer. Raise my limit on a regular basis. It is my highest line at 14,400.

I had MBNA for over a year and I had not have any problems with them . About over a year ago, I applied for Garfield Platinium Plus card and I got approved for $8100. Within a year they increased my Garfield Patinium Plus credit lines up to $10,000. Recently I request to upgrade my account to Quantum with 13.99% APR. I applied for Barnes & Nobles Platinium Plus card and I got approved for $5500. So far I didn't have any problems with MBNA. They usually credit lines of the account for every five to seven months without requesting.

It is interesting to see how MBNA continues its program of suckering in more people and offering them higher limits and more cards. I would advise that if you intend to keep these cards, you keep the balance low enough for you to pay it off in one month if necessary. Their usual game is to wait for you to charge up the amount to a limit that you can't easily pay off and them raise your interest rate because your payment was received "late". You will them have a high balance with a 23% interest or higher and not be able to get out. They have done this to many people and because you have no proof of when your payment arrived, you are stuck. Your best bet is to keep only one MBNA and use it for emergencies only. Discover is a far better card with more honoest practices.

Hey, Doug, I have but there are those without computers. Also, you might check out the MBNA requirements for paying on the interent. You need to date the payment at least 5 days in the future but you must allow 5 days for the payment to be posted to your account. Once again, they have laid as many stumbling blocks as possible with the hope that you will miscalculate and have a late payment.
