I had a collection in the National Consumer Telecommunications Data Exchange Database{NCTDE} from MCI for $112. I disputed it as not mine. The also had no documentation since the long distance was granted via telephone. The results from equifax says that "customer is not being held responsible for outstanding final bill". The things in this database do not show on your credit report. The is similar to Chexsystems that banks use to verify previous checking accounts with other banks. The mci account did show up on my Transunion report though via a collection account, now I must dispute that. Does this ever end!!!!
Yes, it will eventually end. Just keep at it. It can get very frustrating, but don't let that stop you. In the end, you will win.
The "National Consumer Telecommunications Data Exchange" (NCTDE) looks like a SIXTH credit reporting agency, right behind Equifax, Trans Union, Experian, Innovis, and ICS Lakeside. By their own admission, NCTDE "is subject to the provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act." Here's their web page: http://www.nctde.com/ According to their very amateur-looking web site, their stated purpose is "to promote the exchange of information about defaulted and/or fraudulent consumer telecommunications accounts among member carriers through the use of a database managed by a third party vendor." Moreover, "NCTDE has contracted with Equifax Telecommunications & Utilities Solutions, a division of Equifax Financial Services, for the management of this unique consumer-account database... Consumers are supported by a specialized team of information consultants at the Equifax Information Service Center." Here's the listed contact information: Telephone: 972-518-0019, extension 235 FAX: 972-518-2312 Mailing address: P.O. Box 167688, Irving, TX 75016-7688 Email: alice.haslam@gte.net NCTDE Executive Director: Alice J. Haslam Very interesting! Might be time to request another consumer report. Doc
I've been talking to them on the phone and they are claiming they can't give me a copy of the report unless I have been recently been denied by a utility company. They keep trying to play word games where if I ask for my credit file they try to send me my equifax file. I say you have two databases, no? I want the info from the second one. Yada, yada, yada....
