Anyone know if a merchandise return between statements will count as a required monthly minimum payment? I went to check my Cap1 account just a couple of minutes ago and it looks like the laptop that I returned last Friday (used to feed Crap 1 some of their own non reporting CL medicine) finally fell off, dropping my balance down to $763+change (after netting a $2883 high credit). Interestingly enough, when I tried the "pay online" function, the minimum payment had also fallen from $86.00 as of the date of the statement (last Saturday) to $22.00 currently. Did the merchandise credit count as a payment and am I safe in paying less than the $86.00 statement minimum or am I pushing my luck (despite what the website says)?

I WOULD PAY THE $86.00 just in case...

You MAY regret it if you pay only $22.00...they may charge you a LATE FEE...

SOMEBODY here said they got a LATE FEE because the web site said a LOWER AMOUNT...they paid the lower amount...(not necessarily CAPITAL ONE)

    You're pushing your luck.
    returns don't count as payments.

I think it depends on the creditor. I've had returns count as a payment, but usually on department store cards. I agree with GEORGE--pay the $86 and be safe. Cap One is not on my list of favorites, I wouldn't put anything past them. (They're in my "closed, now get out of here" file!)
