I pulled my Trans Union Credit Report and I have to dispute any inaccurate information threw "Merchants Association Credit Bureau, Inc. in Tampa, Florida. Why can't I dispute directly with Trans Union? This report was a mailed credit report.

I guess if I pull my online report then I can't dispute directly with Trans Union Online. But I prefer paper dispute because I have better proof with Certified Receipt, and I can send in Dispute Letters, Laws and so on. =)

Anyone ever had any problems getting inaccurate information deleted threw them in Tampa?

Merchant's handles TU's files in Florida. When you request a TU report, or dispute it via mail, you have to go through Merchant's to get it done.

They're decent to deal with. They actually answer the phone with a minimal wait time, and the reps. seem to be helpful.

On a side note, Merchant's is also a collection agency, and they share the same offices in Tampa. If you call to dispute a Merchant's collection on your report, they'll immediately transfer you over to the collection side of the offices....

You can get this item removed by disputing the "Credit Bureau" in their name. They are misrepresenting their company as a "BONA FIDE" credit reporting agency by using "Credit Bureau" in their name. Dispute using this item using what I suggested and they will pee on themselves - I mean urinate <ggg>. Check the FTC Opinion letters for this violation and FDCPA.

    Good Luck!!!!

When I lived in Miami-Dade County all my credit reports all came from Merchants. Now that I live in Broward County I deal directly with Trans Union.

Personally I prefer to deal with TU.
