I got a great letter from them today that I was now going to do business with Merrick Corporation, a credit card company that had taken over my acct from the FDIC on the behalf of NEXTCARD! (I closed Nextcard a while back and it IS reporting as closed by consumer request...) The new charge terms are numerous..... buy it SAYS purchases at 9.7% cash at 15% then it shows LOTS of possible bad rates - 35% DEFAULT RATES ARE LISTED SEVERAL TIMES. iT TOLD ME THAT if MY ACCOUNT was open AND IN GOOD STANDING, i WOULD RECEIVE MY NEW fukt MERRICK VISA IN A FEW WEEKS... Remember, I closed NEXTCARD a couple of months back....this will be interesting to see if MERRICK snaps me.... pitch - pitch - pitch - dogman

Dogman, is this a joke like the Amex thing or did you really get this letter? If it is not a joke are you going to get a card since you closed your Nextcard? If this is real, you should call M. on Monday to straighten this out. We gave up on Nextcard when our accounts were cancelled. We are confused here. Let us know what is going on.
no joke - but it does say you will get a card if your current NEXTCARD is open and in good standing.. I rhink I will not get a card - but I would not have expected the letter either.. later dogman
We appreciate your answer Dogman, That would be interesting if we received any info from M. Bank. We just let Nextcard die. We never closed the accounts. We won't apply to anyone else until this Nextcard drama runs it's course.
I have merrick bank and they are a pain. They do not have online pay and if you pay by check or money order they put a 2 week hold on the funds and they will not release it no matter what.
Picantel, I used to have a bank do that to me. I got COPIES of all my checks and low and behold, they cleared within a day or 2! I sent copies of this to them stating that if they did not change their procedures, I would report them to the OCC. Worked beautifully!
