Congratulations! Isn't this board the best?? We are also building a home. We put in contract on June 1st. Originally it was supposed to be ready Aug 25. Now the agent is saying that we can't close until end of Sept! Anyway, best of luck to you! Building a home is very exciting...

    Congratulations to you both!

I can't wait to begin my mortgage process in November'ish, if we can wait that long! We have been going to open houses just to get a feel for different neighborhoods and house styles and it is, like you said sooo exciting and scary at the same time!

    Congrats Pam,
I'm building my house and am closing the end of Sept.

For the record, if you can, GET YOUR OWN INSPECTOR!!!!

Likewise, an EXCELLENT book for people who are building a home and have not done so is called "Your New House" by Alan and Denise Fields. I was overwhelmed but that book but my or my, did they have a lot of info to share.

    Good luck!

Congratulations! I'm sure everything will go through just fine. My husband and I are about to close on our first house either on Friday or early next week.

You are correct - this board is amazing!

P.S. - We were able to get an FHA loan even though I had filed BK7 in 1996 and had a few lates within the past year (I had to write a TON of explanation letters, though).

    Sweetnsas,
Thank you sooo much for the book recommendation. I have been looking for something to read about this entire process. I will have to head out to Barnes and Noble tomorrow to see if they have it. Thanks again!

    Are you having it "WIRED"???

Some special wire as seen on TECHTV~~~CABLE, SATELLITE, INTERNET, PHONE, AUDIO
    in every room (pre-wired)...

    CAT-5

It comes prewired with the cable phone internet like the one you saw,but if you want the surround sound and alarm its considered a upgrade and we on a tight budget, so we will probly pass on the upgrade, its really nice {the prewiring} option, and I would like to have the upgrade . Right now I thank god that is everything goes ok we can get into a house.

Unfortunately, a lot of builders aren't using CAT-5 to do their wiring. I'm glad mine is.

I have a "brain" for my wiring that's in my bedroom closet. It's prewired for all the latest technology (and beyond) and I was glad about it too!

SweetnSas , I think thats what my house will have, but the brain box is in the second bathroom , thats were it was in the model home anyway, Im going to look for the paper to see what it says , I know all the prewiring is done except for the alarm and surroud sound. I found it its called Levition Integrated Networks is that what you have?
