    Nco

    Hey everyone,

My boyfriend has a paid medical collection from NCO on his CR. I believe that it is from either 2000 or 2001. I have never dealt with medical collections b-4. This is the situation. He was in a car accident and the insurance was late with the payment. They sent it to collections, he paid it and was later reimbursed later by the insurance company. Is there a best way to go about this? I was thinking send validation, see what happens. If that doesn't work, speak with the OC (probably a hospital or something) and see what they can do to get it removed. If that doesn't work then start the nutcase series. Does this sound reasonable? Does NCO have a good record with validation?

    Thanks in advance,
    Aleta

    Thanks slow,

I have got my reports pretty clean. I was just looking for some guidance on how to deal with medical collections. I think that I will try the validation first.

    Thanks,
    A

    Alf,

If you had insurance and they were supposed to pay your medical bill it is NOT FAIR for it to go on your credit report.

If anything, it should go on the insurance companies report.

Same thing happened to me, I called the CA up and explained my inusurance was supposed to pay. It was not my FAULT!!! I provided my insurance info. to the doctor when I recieved medical services.

    Good Luck!!!

Wow. Me too. What is it with NCO. I went to the emergency room in 1998 and my insurance company was never billed for the visit. I ended up fixing it that year and low and behold I get a letter from NCO last summer about an unpaid medical debt. I had to prove that I did have insurance at the time and then I asked for a letter from the insurance company reiterating that they were never billed for the services.

For what it is worth, I sent NCO a combined nutcase/validation letter. I sent them this nasty letter with the letter from the insurance company. I made sure to include plenty of words like "alleged" "erroneous" and "lawsuit." I literally faxed it to them 15 - 20 times because they would not call me back. Finally on day two and fax number (18 or so?) they called me up and responded. They do no research whatsoever on their cases. I bet half of them are wrong. That is what worked for me. Of course I had a very good reason to be angry and a quite legitimate claim. I don't know your exact situation . . .Good luck.
