Hi I just saw this site and thought maybe someone anyone could help answer a question re: statute of limitations
I live in Wisconsin and I have a student loan that I neglected to add to my consolidation loan. Big mistake! Anyway in correcting this when I saw it on my credit report I paid it. The last date it shows active was 1/05. I paid it 2/11. If wisconsins SOL is 6 years when would this have been due to fall off of my report? Is it literally 6 years from the 1/05 date or would it be from the 2/05 date when I paid? It's still showing and with every late payment since the day I never consolidated it. Please if anyone could explain this I would greatly appreciate it.

    Welcome to Creditnet!

You're confusing the SOL with the amount of time something can be reported on your credit reports. They're 2 very different things. Also, there is no SOL for Federal student loans.

Anyway, I think what you want to know is when this paid-off student loan is going to fall off your credit reports. What you want to look for on your credit reports is the DOFD (Date of First Delinquency). It should fall off 7 1/2 years after the DOFD, which is when you first missed your payment and became delinquent. Whether or not you paid it off in 2/11 doesn't have any effect on that.

Any idea if on my credit report it states PAID is possible to get deleted and if so how? Last date of activity 2005 but again Paid 2/11.

It's better to negotiate a PFD before you pay because you have some leverage. Now that you've already paid, you can always ask nicely and hope for the best, but the CA doesn't have to do anything at all. If there's some missing information or incorrect data on your credit reports, you could always dispute it through the CRAs in hopes that it gets deleted that way.

I did ask for PDF but was told no. So it will sit there unfortunately:(

The acct I paid and want deleted: is there anything I should say when asking to deleted or will just a basic question of asking to delete be sufficient? St loan that wasn't defaulted on and not sure how not but acct shows last activity 05 but lates started dating from 2007 and paid 2011.
