Does anybody know if this acct can be used at others like Eddie Bauer? The stores are related aren't they?
Thanks Marci. Do you have one? As I stated above, I received a preapproval with a catalog today. In your opinion, is it worth getting?
Uh-oh. I have a posting missing in cyber space. lol Kiyi, I haven't applied. I received a catalog today with a $1300 preapproval. That's why I was interested in knowing if it could be used elsewhere.
Isn't that FCNB?? I thought they weren't aking on any new applicants b/c of their financial trouble and are trying to sell?? Hmmm, I sent a friend to the eddie bauer site, but the credit application seems to have disappeared??
I looked for the card application too but nothing my scores are prolly too low also, wonder what they pull.
LKH, As others have said, this is an FCNB card, and I'd be surprised if they actually did process your application and send you a card. But, if they do... I don't care for Newport News items, but the Eddie Bauer store and catalog is great. If you are into Eddie Bauer, you may like their catalog for business/better-sportswear clothing (compare to Brooks Brothers, Ann Taylor, etc...). I haven't seen this line of clothing in the stores, but it is very nice (and expensive). There's a special name for it, so a CSR may help you. I really don't care for FCNB. This, imo, is a sub-prime company, but if you get their card, simply remember with whom you deal. They don't have online bill pay, so send your bill early and CC/RR if necessary. One positive thing - if FCNB's clothing cards get bought out (say by Retailer's National Bank or Federated Department Stores), you may be glad to have gotten the cards early on, especially if they clamp down on underwriting standards. Spiegel - it's nice for a variety of things but overpriced, imo.
I just called the # given and found out (if the rep knows what she was talking about) that FCNB has been sold. She took my info and said it will be processed. She said even though it's been sold, for the time being, it will still be under the FCNB name.
Oh I love Newport News, I was a huge fan of Espirit but they are no more;(, they are the only places I could get nice size 6 items that fit like they should.
I have one - it's one of the first cards I got. Limited web access, no online payments but you can check the account. Just watch when you are supposed to get your statements -I didn't get mine once, ended up making payment over the phone on the due date and paying $9.95 for the priviledge. I promptly scanned a statement and bought some similar envelopes just in case it happened again. Interest rate is off the wall, and they won't budge, so I only carried a small balance until I got the credit line up over $2,000. I guess that's enough for a retail card. Now I pay in full if I use it at all. I would rather use a rewards card
I don't have Newports News Chargecard but I have Spiegel Card. You can use either Newport News in Eddie Bauer, Spiegel and other related stores. It is issued by First Consimers National Bank. I got my Spiegel Card through pre-approval offers and you can make payment inside the stores. Ron.
