    Optima - limit match

Couple of months ago someone posted a message stating that American Express will match your limit with your highest limit. Is this still true? I just want to confirm this prior to calling.

    RE: Optima - limit match

Here is how Amex credit increase policy:

    1. Not more than one increase every 6 months for a certain card product.

    2. Retention cannot give you an increase, so don't threaten to close unless you really want to.

    3. When you speak to the CS rep, ask them if you're already pre-approved for an increase.

    4. If the amount of the pre-approved increase is ok, say yes and you've got it. If it's not, or if you're not pre-approved for an increase, the rep will transfer you to the bank (or put you on hold while speaking w/ them). At that point, it's up to the Account Manager at the bank, and you'll probably be asked questions about your employment and income.
