When I knew that Nextcard was in trouble, B4 cancelling the Nextcard (3/02) - I snapped the Orchard Bank site and they instantly approved me and sent me a MC with a $1500 starting limit.

I have used the card twice since getting it in March!

    GET THIS:

1 - I sent them an email asking for an increase. I told them I would use the card if I had a reasonable limit.

2 - They said they would increase automatically over time BUT I COULD BUY AN INCREASE IF DESIRED!!!!
Call the CS rep and ask them:

    3 - I bought a $200 immediate CL increase for $30!
The REP told me that they DO NOT KEEP TRACK - except if you call TWICE in 24 hours, they do note that!

I ASKED, can I call every day and get a $10K limit
over a few weeks? The REP again said the only record was IF you did it twice in 24 hours!!!

The REP said this was a new program, because so many people did not want to wait for automatic increases every 6 months!!!!

When you call in to a REP, they tap the computer and then "OFFER" you two options - and these increases could be as low as $5 up to $50.
    I took the $200 increase for $30;
my other option was a $100 increase for $15. LOL!

I told her I may buy my way up to a $5K limit - because a one time fee to get a $500- limit reporting would be worth it to me...

She thanked me - my limit is now $1700 - 10 minutes later.

THIS is a GREAT way to get a higher limit reporting - IF you decide that's what you want...

VERY INTERESTING! She said it was a SECONDARY WAY to get an increase on your MC!

    I bought it!

Very interesting and worth a try!

I called a couple of months ago and just got $100 for a $5.00 fee. Then she said I just have to wait until they review me again. I'll give it another shot soon!

BTW - I just called the regular CS number -
    800-216-1013.

I tried for an orchard card and they only offered me a secured card. I can get an 85k mortgage, a 26k minivan, and a couple bleh ccs but I cannot get a stupid orchard card.

UPDATE - I called again 25 hrs later, and the computer did not offer me another increase - so whether the REPS know or not, the computer probably spaces these limit offers....

It was an unsecured Mastercard Plus - whatever the heck that was. I just got it when I was ready to have NEXTCARD close any second LOL!

aarrff - $1700 is the magic limit number so far....

    Hi Dogman ;)

I don't know if Orchard uses the same retention number or rules as Household... but I did learn Household's system.

every 91 days you can call in and if they let you talk to retention you can get up to 400 free.. yes, free.

sometimes you can combine that with a paid increase every month or 2 and thus go up 600 or so every 4-6 mos. I've gotten to over 3500 with them but the 15.9 interest rate keeps me from using them for anything... also, I"m still stuck at the 79 annual fee and will drop them if they ever don't refund that one... With CAp1 in my pocket... I never will pay fees again :)

just thought I'd throw that out for you to use as well. It's a great tool if Orchard is the same as Household.
