Had Dish Network, lots of billing issues, erroneous ppv charges, canceled service early. Hit with $180 in cancel fees and collection letters from CBE Group immediately. Dispute with Dish Network customer service, fees reduced to $100, paid in full to Dish Network.

Pull CRs the other day and lo and behold a Paid Collection from CBE Group shows up on all 3. What's the best way to get removed?

Since you already paid off the collection, you don't have much leverage to do anything at this point. CBE is in no way required to remove the paid collection from your reports because it sounds like that's exactly what it was. If there is some inaccurate or missing information on your reports relating to this debt, you could always dispute it through the CRAs in hopes that the negative mark is removed altogether.

Well the issue is that Dish Network should have never turned it over to a collections group and in addition I paid Dish not CBE.

But they did turn it over to a CA for collection. If they shouldn't have turned it over in the first place, then you should've really pushed Dish to pull it back from the CA before making any payments directly to them. Dish may have accepted your money, but CBE was technically still collecting the debt for them when you made payment.

I wholeheartedly agree with you and had I realized at the time that I was going to see a ding on my CR for collections I would have proceeded differently. That being said, I am less interested in what I should have done and I am more interested in if anything can be done at this point. Am I just stuck and there is nothing I can do about it now?

Sorry- I'm not trying to be annoying by telling you what you should have done. I realize you're just looking for some advice based upon the situation you're in now.

As I previously mentioned, the only thing I can think of at this point is disputing something that's inaccurate relating to the debt through the CRAs. Perhaps the CA won't respond to the investigation and the CRA will delete it altogether. Some people might suggest sending a letter to the CA explaining how you handled the debt as fast as possible with the OC and you would appreciate them removing the paid collection from your reports. They might do it, but then again they don't have to do anything. In their mind, this is a done deal.

Anyone else have a better idea?
