And I didn't hear anything from them, today I log onto the online account and see I got charged $49 dollars for a $1000 increase.

I never accepted anything, but they told me that the system says I called on the 18th and accepted the offer. Well I really did not do that, I don't like to pay for increases. All I did was write a letter via planetfeedback. So the supervisor waived the fee.

Now the limit is at $3600 with a 14.9 apr. Not much to write home about. So this card is slated for termination and will stay in my sock drawer.

Do you really have a 14.9? Providian says 16.9 is the lowest they go on a classic. Do you have a classic? If not, what is your card, and terms? If you do have a 14.9 that's doing well.

I have the regular getsmart card from providian. And yes they lowered the apr down to 14.9 . What I really wanted was a upgrade to the next level.

oh well. Can't look a gifted horse in the mouth right?

I have the GetSmart Gold. My apr is 16.99 fixed. My credit line is $2600.

You are doing well. That gift horse looks good to me!

I feel a lot better know. thanks.

I wrote a letter via planet feedback, it was a nice letter btw, and ask for a credit limit increase and upgrade to match my other cards in my credit portifolio. I also mentioned something about the lovely apr I have with providian, but that it simply doesn't compare against my other cards. ( which is true )

I never heard anything back from them. But today, I logged onto my account and saw that they gave me a $1000 increase but charged my $49 dollars for that. I called and complained and a supervisor waived the fees.

It must be a great feeling to have that portfolio. I am rebuilding and the Get Smart card is locked in at the apr rate and limit I spoke of earlier. I even talked to the executive office recently about getting a better limit and apr and was told that because of all the changes Providian is going through, that now more than ever, Providian is more conservative with increases and apr adjustments with their Get Smart Visa.

The regular Providian classic is still generous with line increases, she said.

Since you have the Get Smart, you are doing really well and you should be proud.
