Wife got her upgraded card from Chase today to replace her Providian. The Chase card takes effect 8/19/02. Best regards, Mirage
Thats great for your wife and you both. You can be an AU. Mirage, I remembered this Chase takeover being discussed before. So I looked up your June comments. Did your wife get the same $4000 limit and what about the other terms? What does the new card look like? I noticed from the June comments that someone else was ecstatic to get Chase but got 19.9 instead of 16.9. We would much rather have Chase too but we never got the letter.
She had the regular Providian account. Her APR and cl are the same (16.99% and 4k cl). But now she has a chance to get a lower APR and maybe future increases without the Providian BS. The cool thing is her Chase card has her being a member since 1999 (year she opened her Providian). The card (I think) looks like the basic Chase card. No luck in me trying to convince her to be the AU. 8-( I do have my own Providian Plat. but that was not converted. Best regards, Mirage
Ooohhh I can't wait to get mine!!!! Did Chase pull an inquiry on your wife? They pulled a soft on me about a month ago. I'm a little worried because my card is nearly maxed out. I had it paid down quite a bit and then had an urgent situation arise where I needed it. Just a bit of history in case anybody is curious......I got the card a couple months out of my bk7. $1000.00 limit. It's been 5 1/2 years and the limit is around 5000.00 & most of those increases I had to pay for. This was the basic Providian Visa, no gold, platinum, nothing..... I did get retention to lower the APR to 16.9% some time ago. They would never go any lower. I do have a second Providian card. Same thing, basic mastercard. The blue one. 16.9% APR, 2500.00 limit. No Chase offer for that one but at least they haven't jacked me to the 29.9% yet.
Just thought I'd update ya'll. I received my Chase card. Unfortunately they replaced my Visa with a Mastercard. I prefer Visa. My credit limit stayed the same and I'm not sure about the interest. I think they said what it would be when they sent the notice that I would be switched to Chase. I'll have to dig it out. My Providian interest was 16.9%. Hope it didn't go up!!! I still have a Providian MasterCard. It hasn't been "jacked" up....yet. Keep my fingers crossed every time I get anything from them.
