Question on late payment

After much hard work, my credit has improved, scores in the high 700's, good credit card limits, etc...

The budget was a little short this month, so I had to pay the mortgage late. The payment had to be submitted by 8 PM in order to be considered received this month. I totally spaced, and didn't pay until after 11 PM. Now the payment won't reflect as received until Jan. 3.

So I'm going to get hit with a 30 day late. On the mortgage, no less. Of course, this comes as we've decided to look into buying a new car.

Is it even worth trying to get this hit on my report removed? Any advice is appreciated.

I would wait to see how it reports, some companies may not report late posted payments as late.

If it updates as a 30 day late, I would try a goodwill letter and see if that works.

I think anyone can understand losing track of time with the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

You may even find that if it is your FIRST late payment, it might not even get reported. I have had an incident where it was the first late payment ever and they did not hold it against me. Good luck!

It may take some time to reflect into your Credit Score. Be patient.
