first off- i've been reading this forum for the past few weeks and have learned so much already- definitely it has inspired me to try and get my credit cleaned up. so thanks to all of your posts. : )

    here's my situation:
my credit score according to equifax is 614. the one ding(several actually) on it is from a card through goodyear( which is through citi). the account show as closed by credit grantor in 2004 due to late payments(the account was opened in 2002). unfortunately, it has taken until just a few days ago to finish paying this off, AND even after the account had closed, i still have had a few late payments(one was a 90 day). Is there any possible way of getting this account removed, or the late payments, even if the info is correct? Like i said, i just sent in the last payment a few days ago- Would a letter help, even after it has been paid? Or was paying the remaining balance a mistake in that i should have contacted them before finishing paying the remaining balance?
This account doesn't show up in my negative account history, and obviously it does not show in my accounts in good standing. The balance was not sent to a CA either- i've paid the full amount.
I do have another account with citi, which i've had since 2000 and it is in good standing w/ no late payments. does this help at all?
I realize these are alot of questions, but would be extremely grateful for any advice at all. This forum has been so eye opening- its replacing my nightly reading!

Citibank may remove the lates as a matter of courtesy and they may not. Alot depends on who reads it. Although it seems rather informal, Planetfeedback is actually a viable means of communication with them to which they respond quickly.

The fact that you did pay it is most certainly in your favor. In the event that they elect not to remove the late notations, dispute it through the credit reporting agencies so that at least it will be marked as being in dispute. Citibank is one of the few furnishers of information which comply with the FCRA in this regard.

    Hello!

First off since this is my first post ever, I'd like to thank everyone here for all the info I've absorbed off this board. They should give this sites address away in economics class!

I found this thread that's almost exactally what i'm dealing with.

For better clarity this is my situation...
Just over a year ago I had some difficulties paying my debts, 5 of my accounts reported late on my credit report, all around the same time frame. I have No defaults or collections, just late payments reported over a 3 -4 month period just over 1 year ago. I recently applied for a personal loan(to help inject cash into a personal business) and was denied. I immediatly found this place, grabbed a copy of my credit report, as well as my FICO scores(TransUnion - 660 / Experian - 646 / Exuifax - 673)After scanning these forums, i've begun my attack to get my credit where it should be, but i'm nervous that it may backfire on me with 2 specific accounts(from what ive found, reading these forums).

These accounts were with Citi & Chase, I paid them in full about 1 year ago, then personally closed the accounts shortly after(Youth inspired fear or charging the cards up again). Anyways, I've send "goodwill" letters to my other lenders(Lenders i still have open and used accounts with), My question is would "Goodwill" letters be ideal with these two accounts in question? Or should I find another method to get these off my report?

I found a great thread here that explained how I may be able to use "inconsistencies" between the reports sent to CRA's to dispute(possibly delete) the bad marks. Would that approach upfront likely yield better results?

One off topic question, When i applied for the personal loan recently, then grabbed a copy of my credit report, I have 4...count'em FOUR inquires on my credit from 2 institutions in a 3 day period.
2 from Bank of America, 2 from Lasalle Bank(Just to clarify, Lasalle was the original owners of the building I physically visited and applied for the loan at, BofA bought them recently). Is that much credit checking normal?

If a delinquency was legitimate, it may continue uner the FCRA to legally show in your CR for 7 years from the date of the delinquency. If the CCC wont GW it or agree to some PFD, both at t heir discretion, you are stuck with it. Discrepancies between datea at the CRAs is common, as not all lendors report to all the CRAs (nor are they required to do so), so I dont see this as a basiis for claiming their legitimacy.

Try writing a good will letter first planetfeedback is a good place to go.

If they won't remove, you can try to dispute that you had never been late and see if they update to pays as agreed.

Lenders are looking for lates within the last 2 years, if it is beyond that it is not affecting the score so much as it did when first placed on the credit report.

You don't want to dispute for deletion. This is an other wise good account and after 7 years it will go back positive for additional 3 years. Good accounts get to report 10 years from close date.

    I am not understanding planetfeedback.
Iwould go on there and post ie say I would like Sears to forgive my two lates?
    Then Sears writes me?
Or a BoA that has been current now for 4 years but still is a neg and closed account what could I do about it?
I would post to planet feedback and they BoA would respond? How would I know it is BoA?
I am confused about all of this.
    HELP PLEASE
