Sample Letters to Dispute

    I need help writing a dispute letter to the CA's.I have some items still in my credit report from 1996 and some items that I believe arent mine.Can someone please help out with a sample letter to send to dispute these items.I know that it needs to be word correctly. hopefully a sample letter of some sort.

    Just send them a letter saying i dispute this account.Use your words.The ones that aren't yours,dispute as not mine.It's not a legal paper paper so it just has to say i dispute this account.First get your current credit reports.

    I'm a big believer in keeping letters short and sweet. Ignore all the "example letters" you see out there that are 3+ pages long and contain all kinds of legal citations, threats, and god knows what else. CAs / CRAs / OCs don't care. Here's what I've used:

    Note that the DV letter ONLY applies within the first 30 days of being contacted by a debt collector. It is very rarely useful under any other circumstances, and in fact, can cause you grief by waking up a sleeping CA.

    For entries on your credit report which are over 7 years old, dispute with the CRA -- NOT the CA. Dispute them however you like (most have a "too old" option). I'm a big fan of using the CRAs' online systems; they're free, and they've worked for me.

    I went through this a site named Sample Letters Which has many samples of what ever letters necessary. There are many free samples.
