    Ron,

Can I ask what was your credit limit before the increase and how long have you had the card? I was approved for a Sears card last Oct., pre-approved with a $250 limit. I called for an increase recently and the rep said that I wouldn't be able to request and increase for 9 months, (my card was too new).

    Kat,
I have Sears card for almost a year and half. I applied my card in the mail and they approved initial creit line with $1498. Last September I request credit line increase over the automated system and they increased me up to $2080. Today, I took a chance to request on the account on-line over the web and they approved me $4580. I don't believe they approved me that high credit limit. By the way, I upgraded my Sears account to Premier card because I bought a computer last Christmas. I don't know it matters when I upraded to Premier card and they will give more credit. By the way, I asked live person when I first got my Sears card and they told me you couldn't get any increase until you account has been opened for 9 months. My brother got Sears Gold Mastercard from the mail to replace his old Sears card. My brother and I opened the Sears account about the same time. He got one and I don't get Sears Gold Mastercard.

How hard is it to get a Sears

card with past credit problems? What is the minimum requirements? What should your credit score be? Sorry for all the questions. I need a retail card. I messed up on JCP in the past and I just finished paying them off so I know they won't extend me anymore credit.

Re: How hard is it to get a Se

I have no idea why I was sent a pre-approval. I know they pulled Trans Union (California). I received this months before I looked at my credit report. I have two charge-offs that are 1 1/2 years old listed on all three of my reports, which I have disputed multiple times with all the CRA's. I cant seem to get them removed. So, I was sent a pre-approved offer even though I have two baddies.

I got my Sears last October and had plenty of past negatives. Mind you, I hadn't had any in 2 years when I applied. Approved for $2200 CL.

I've applied before and was denied (probably 5 years ago)

    mimi,
I don't how hard to get Sears card. When I applied for Sears card a year and half ago, all of my negative were gone from my credit reports. Sears pulled credit from Equifax whre I live in Texas. By the way, you can apply for Sears on the web and you will get instant response.

    Kat,
Sears sent you pre-approval application because they pre-screened from the credit bureaus. Your criteria will match their requirements.

Sears is VERY generous if you don't have recent negs. I'm at $15k after 4 years - they go up something like 30% every 9 months -- but I never can get it automatically approved - someone has to do it manually.

I think everyone gets the Gold Mastercard this year (new account terms just arrived inthe mail - adding cash advance and balance transfer language to the agreement). The annual report also says something about full roll-out of Gold MC this year.

I wonder what the rate will be... anyone want to share what they have?
