I formerly held an account with this creditor for ordering mail order merchandise. I ordered one item and paid upon receipt. When beginning my credit repair crusade I noted the account was listed as charged off. I immediately sent a copy of the cancelled check, and noted recently the creditor chagned the reporting to Paid charge off - although the account was paid well before charge off.

Today I receive a letter from Seventh Avenue regarding my dispute of this reporting:

"We are writing to you in reference to your recent credit bureau dispute. At this time we are requesting that you send us a signed letter of dispute so we can proceed with our investigation."

I feel that filing a dispute with the credit bureau should suffice. I don't think they should be asking for a second written dispute with my signature. Any theories on this? Should I ignore the letter?

Where does it say in the FRCA/FDCPA that a credit dispute/validation letter needs to be signed? The good thing is, you can now prove they got your letter.

I just went to the site below and added information about which CRA's were pulled (Inquiries) for my recent requests for credit. I suggest all here add their inquiries accurately to the list there. They let you search recorded inquiries. Then if you have one to add you add it by your zip code. Please do this every time you apply for credit and get an inquiry. It could be a BIG help.

Pulling credit reports is subject to change...except maybe JUNIPER, EQUIFAX ONLY.
